Mercado dos Lavradores har varit hjärtat i Funchals färskvaruhandel sedan den öppnade 1940, och dess entré är dekorerad med traditionella azulejoplattor. Inuti står stånd staplade med tropiska frukter, blommor och dagens fångster utspridda över flera våningar, ofta bevakade av blomsterförsäljare i traditionell madeiraklänning. Det är ett bra stopp för foton och en smak av det lokala livet.
Funchals gamla stadsdel är mest känd för gator som Rua de Santa Maria, med sin samling av ljust målade dörrar, smala kullerstensgränder och traditionella lokala restauranger. Dessa historiska hörn är en av de mest karaktärsfulla och fotogeniska sidorna av staden.
Pináculo är en av Funchals mest fotograferade utsiktsplatser och erbjuder ett sällsynt perspektiv som blickar tillbaka över staden från klipporna i São Gonçalo. Härifrån kan du njuta av vidsträckta vyer över bukten, hamnen och Atlanten, med gott om tid för foton.
Praça do Município anses ofta vara Funchals vackraste torg, belagd i svartvit Portugisisk kullerstens och inramad av tre historiska byggnader: rådhuset, det tidigare biskopspalatset, numera museum, och Igreja do Colégio. Denna jesuitkyrka från 1600-talet, en av Madeiras rikaste, döljer en extraordinär barockinredning bakom sin slätvita fasad, med förgyllda träsniderier och kakelpaneler som täcker nästan alla ytor. Incredible tour! Virgílio was extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional. Doing this tour in the beginning of your trip is a MUST to see the area and learn which places you have to see while in Madeira. We went to one of the restaurants he suggested for dinner that night and it was our favorite place we ate at all vacation!

Our tuc tuc tour with Virgilio was a really great experience. He was spot on time, very polite, helpful & informative. He showed us some lovely spots in Funchal which we would not have found otherwise. He recommended a bakery selling Pastel de Nata & he was right, they were divine. My friend & I felt safe, looked after & we really enjoyed the hour spent on this trip & I have already recommended him to a friend who is visiting in October.

A fantastic and very enriching experience!
