Efter att ha kört ungefär en och en halv timme (tiderna beror på ditt hotells läge). Under detta första skede kommer jag att prata med er om följden av händelser som ledde till att Frankrike ockuperades av nazisterna 1940. Vi kommer sedan att prata om planeringen och förberedelserna inför landsättningen den 6 juni 1944 och slutligen diskutera bedrifterna av de 225 männen i överste Rudders andra rangerbataljon.
Vi kommer att stanna i hjärtat av Omaha Beach i Saint-Laurent sur mer, där du kan ta några bilder och jag kommer att föreslå några restauranger så att du kan äta en snabb lunch innan du beger dig till vårt nästa stopp.
Den amerikanska kyrkogården Colleville sur mer är den mest besökta platsen på landningsstränderna. Vi kommer att stanna för att se, om du vill, en kortfilm som hyllar några soldater som dog i strid under slaget vid Normandie. På denna plats kommer det också att vara möjligt att besöka ett litet minnesmuseum. Vi kommer sedan att vandra med respekt bland de 9387 gravarna av hjältarna som dog för att befria Europa.
Vid Longues-sur-Mer kan vi stanna för att se kasmaterna som fortfarande är värd för de 155 mm kanoner som utgör en del av den berömda Atlantmuren som installerades i Europa av nazisterna från 1942.
Vi kommer att stanna vid Arromanches les Bains för att se resterna av den konstgjorda hamnen som installerades av de allierade under de första dagarna av attacken. Jag kommer här igen att förklara för er planeringen och installationen av denna gigantiska plats som är nödvändig för att försörja den allierade armén.
Om du vill, kommer vi att återvända till ditt hotell längs landningsstränderna till den östra delen av attacken och vi kommer på så sätt att kunna korsa Benouville-bron som omdöpts till Pegasus-bron för att hedra ett kommando från den sjätte luftburna brittiska divisionen som heroiskt tog plats natten mellan den 5 och 6 juni 1944. Vi kör sedan tillbaka till ditt hotell.

We had an amazing tour with Quentin. He arrived on time and we went from there! He was so knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He toured us around and gave us ample time to explore. His video helped set the tone for the whole day. It was truly a moving experience that I will forever remember.

Gilles is a very knowledgeable and professional tour guide, that we highly recommend for tours of the Le Havre and Normandy area. His knowledge of the World Wars is outstanding, and he shared information in a very easily understood way. Our party of six was unanimous in our appreciation for a tour well done. His English was excellent, his car was first class, and he was onetime and delivered the tour just as promised. We've enjoyed several excellent private tours but this tour was by far one of the best.

Gilles and his team were absolutely amazing!!!! We had 8 people total and two very comfortable, clean, well stocked cars (food and beverages), that made our trip from the cruise port to Normandy very relaxing. Along the way, Gilles told us about the history leading up to the Normandy invasion which was so very informative, even as a HS History teacher myself! The other car was able to hear all the info as well due to his communication set up…it was wonderful!!! We stopped at the Point du Hoc first and received his guided tour along the way! After that, he arranged lunch for our group that was super delicious! Next stop was Omaha Beach, then the cemetery, the Mulberry Harbors and the Atlantic Wall, finishing off with the gun emplacements!!!! It was absolutely an amazing day!!!! I can’t tell you how highly I recommend this tour!!!! All 8 people in our group agreed that this was their favorite tour on our 2 week British Isle cruise!!!

Gilles is amazing. What a great person! Our train trip to Caen had an unexpected incident on the track which caused us to have to go back to LeHavre. He drove there and picked us up. He brought croissant for the whole family. He had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed the day with us. Very accommodating, very friendly. I would not tour with anyone else after this! Trusted with my whole family including a 10 year old and he did not disappoint! Cannot say enough nice things about the tour and how informative and fun it was. I got to go inside a German Gun emplacement and stand on the actual beach where it happened and look toward the shore. Bucket list items get checked off here. Life changing! Merci Gilles!

Our guide was Gilles and he was phenomenal! A very intelligent, friendly and caring person. He provided us with so much historical facts and information during our entire excursion.
