Markerade av graverade gravstenar, stridsärrade landskap och minnen av den snabbt försvinnande "Största generationen", kommer vi att hylla de unga män som gav sina liv för vår frihet. Vi måste se till att deras historia förs vidare från nuvarande till framtida generationer !!! Vi kommer att täcka olika ämnen: förberedelserna av Overlord-operationen, anfallet av de första allierade vågorna, byggandet av de konstgjorda hamnarna, upprättandet av lockbetesplanen kallad Fortitude under kontroll av general Patton, det dagliga livet under den tyska ockupationen och relationerna mellan befriarna och de franska civila, det franska motståndets inblandning, byggandet av Atlantmuren, de tyska positionerna, krigsinsatsen, kvinnornas roll, krigskorrespondanterna, minoriteter som kodpratare, post och ballong barage bataljoner … Alla historiska fakta är dokumenterade med detaljerade militära kartor, arkiv och bilder från de allierade och tyska arméerna.

Hylla dessa modiga män på den amerikanska kyrkogården där 10 000 amerikanska soldater är begravda eller saknas i aktion. Stanna vid Omaha-stranden för att besöka en fäste, en del av Atlantmuren.
Stanna vid det tyska batteriet La Pointe du Hoc, den enda platsen där enorma kratrar fortfarande är synliga på grund av sjö- och luftbombning. 225 rangers klättrade modigt upp för 100 fots klipporna. För en god förståelse av Atlantmuren eller det tyska försvaret.
Stanna vid Utah Beach. Lunch på Roosevelt-kaféet byggt på en bunker, veteranernas mötesplats. Besök av platsen där landningen av 4:e infanteridivisionen med brigadgeneral Theodore Roosevelt Junior ägde rum. Monument tillägnat den amerikanska flottan med en Higgins-båt.
Vi kommer att korsa de berömda häckarna som orsakade så många svårigheter för de amerikanska trupperna och kommer att gå längs kusten vid Utah Beach som förbinder Sainte-Marie-du-Mont med den första byn som befriades av Sainte-Mère-l'Eglise i den amerikanska sektorn .
Stanna vid Sainte-Mere Eglise. Sainte Mere Eglise är känd tack vare filmen The Longest Day på grund av hans fallskärmsjägare John Steele från 505:e fallskärmsinfanteriregementet som landade på kyrktornet. Dessutom skapades två målade glasfönster för kyrkan för att fira befrielsen av staden av 82nd Airborne Division den 6 juni 1944.

Sarah Valentin was a very knowledgeable and accommodating guide. She is really passionate about the D-Day history and strategy and knew all the little details. I have mobility issues and in planning the itinerary she factored this in so that we could still maximize the sites. She also factored in the tides so that we could see Omaha Beach at low tide as well as the ceremony taking down the flag at the American cemetery at 4:00. We lucked out that we could see both. My husband is a WW2 nut and the two of them eagerly shared information. Highly recommend Sarah!
Every detail of our day was well planned and exactly what we wanted. Sarah customized our day by the tides to maximize what we could see at the beaches and was flexible with our stops based on what we were interested in. Our 21 year old daughter really enjoyed Sarah’s detailed historical knowledge, as did we. We are honored to spend our day seeing these important sites of world history.

Seeing everything that we had read so much about was wonderful. Our guide Sarah was incredible! Her knowledge,explanations and all the visuals she provided were exceptional. We highly recommend this tour.

My husband had read a lot about DDay before we came. But seeing the beaches and landmarks is sobering. Plus Sara was a terrific guide as she knows the area and the history so well. Very knowledgeable. Don't skip it. We did full day tours and learned much.

Sarah was a fantastic tour guide. Our party of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) were able to see the American Cemetery, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and Utah Brach, with a fantastic lunch thrown in. We never would have made it to all those sights on our own. Our whole party learned so much. And enjoyed getting to know Sarah's personal connection to French History. Highly Recommend!

Sarah was every history lover's dream! I cannot speak highly enough of her. Her thorough and detailed knowledge of both the D-Day Landings and the events of WWII as a whole are beyond compare. She went out of her way to fit a 2-3 day tour into the 9 hours we had. Even above her knowledge and professionalism, Sarah took such good care of us, texting with us in advance of our tour and helping us to arrange for dinner and taxi back to the station before our return train trip to Paris. By the time we got to Bayeax, I was quite frazzled because not only had our group tour (thru another Viator affiliate tour company) been cancelled twice, but Viator had also cancelled our private tour (for reasons no one could ever figure out). But Sarah assured me that she was expecting us and we would sort it all out later. (Viator finally confirmed that this private tour company had not inititated the cancel and then "un-cancelled" us.) Sarah was a rock--hospitable, professional and caring!
