We were a group of 7 friends that love to travel together. We did the Wine Tour, the Coastal Beaches/Tillamook and Columbia River Gorge and Waterfall tours. We were most fortunate to have Shawn as our tour guide. As a native to the area he was very proud of his home state and it showed in the history, sights and geology of the areas we visited. Shawn was extremely conscious of time for us, getting us back early so a member could watch a football game, get us from destination to destination without making us feel rushed. He even provided a cane for a member of our group who had some mobility issues on the more strenuous walks. Aside from the tours he recommended restaurants to try and not one was a disappointment. The entire three days we had Shawn were both information and fun, highly recommend. Last note, the Sprinter van was most spacious, comfortable and CLEAN. These excursions were an excellent value for the money.
We booked a private tour for a group of 7 friends (all active adults in mid 50s/early 60s). We booked them for three days. Willamette Valley wine tour with three wineries day 1; Oregon coast with Tillamook dairy tour day 2 + Columbia gorge waterfalls and salmon hatchery day 3. All tours were excellent, well curated and planned. Our guide Sean was friendly, knowledgeable and kept us on a very good schedule. He is Oregon born and bred and his pride of his state shows clearly in his tour. Booking with the owner Josh was very easy. They were very responsive and reliable. The Mercedes Van had plenty of room. We highly recommend them and their tour company. We were able to see three different areas of Oregon and it was all so worth it.
Nice wineries with great hosts and views. Great tour by Josh. This was a public tour but couldn’t find that in the drop down.
Josh, one of the original Portland area tour guides, was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He picked us up in a nice Mercedes van for the tour. Took us to one larger winery - Rex Hill (great for a Spurs fan as Greg Popovich is part owner), and two smaller ones - Torii Mor and Utopia vineyards. He arranged for lunch to be delivered to us at Torii Mor while we tasted their wines. At Utopia, the owner sat with us and did our tasting and talked with us about wine for quite a while! Great experience! We enjoyed Josh's tour so much we signed up for a Columbia Gorge Tour he was doing the next day!
VinePair recently voted Willamette Valley the #1 wine destination in the world beating out Champagne, France. So, on our recent trip to Porland, this was a MUST SEE for us. Ironically, I found Sea to Summit through Viator. But I called SS and chatted with Josh. SS had great reviews plus the flat fee including tasting fees were appealing to us. This is tidbit important - book DIRECTLY with them. It is about $50 cheaper than booking via Viator. SS sent several reminder texts regarding pick up. We left promptly @ 10:30 from our pick up point with our guide, Shahn. We got back around 5:30 due to traffic. Willamette Valley is about a 45 min drive from downtown Portland. It is beautiful!!! We visited 3 different vineyards - large (Rex Hill), medium (Tori Mohr) & boutique (Tresori) wineries. All 3 had excellent wines in their tastings. We enjoyed them so much that we bought several bottles to bring back to TX from each vineyard. The wine tasting included about 5 drinks plus a 'bonus.' We picked up lunch (we paid for our own) at a local deli in the Valley and ate it along with our tasting in the 2nd vineyard. In one of the vineyards, the tasting fee was $45 per person. So, this tells you there is much value in booking with SS. We thought the choice of vineyards was excellent. Our guide Shahn did a fantastic job. He is very knowledgeable about the area and the wine products it produces. He was very helpful with the wine purchases we made. Shahn even dropped us off at our downtown hotel as we had more than a case of wine to carry around. So, if you want a great Willamette Valley experience at a very reasonable wine tasting price - book directly with Sea to Summit. You won't regret it.
The tour was amazing and very personalized. Joshua, our tour guide, was great and fun to be around. The views are fantastic and we had an all-around great day.
This was our first tour with Sea to Summit, and my husband and I had a wonderful and educational experience with the Williamette Valley Wine tour. We're from California and often visit wineries and take tours, but this one was the best by far. Our tour guide, Shahn, a 2nd level sommelier and grew up in the Willamette Valley, was incredibly knowledgeable about wines and local history. We learned about the rich soils and winemaking history of the Willamette Valley, as well as its present and future. The valley's soil is unique due to ancient volcanic activity and the Missoula Floods, which brought mineral-rich sediments that are perfect for viticulture. These elements create an ideal terroir for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and other grape varieties, giving the wines distinct flavors and complexity. Shahn also shared insights into the evolution of winemaking in the region, from its early days to its current status as a world-renowned wine-producing area. We discussed the innovative techniques being used by local winemakers to enhance the quality of their wines and the sustainable practices being adopted to preserve the environment. Looking to the future, Shahn highlighted the potential for new grape varieties to be introduced and the continued growth of boutique wineries that focus on small-batch, high-quality production. We visited three wineries: Rex Hill/A to Z, Torii Mor, and Tresori. Shahn brought lunch from the Red Hill Market, which we enjoyed at Torii Mor during our wine tasting.Rex Hill is a large winery with delicious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Torii Mor's Pinots were a bit too young, but their Viognier port wine was good. Tresori, a small "micro" winery on the slopes of Chehalem Ridge, was peaceful and beautiful. Although the wine steward at each winery explained the wines, Shahn added even more insights. We ended up joining Rex Hill and Tresori wine club. The Mercedes 4x4 van was comfortable, making the tour even more enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you, Shahn.
While attending a wedding in Portland for the weekend, we gathered with 8 family and friends to take a private wine tour with Sean as our guide. Communications prior, during, and after our tour were very clear and we were quickly responded to when we had questions before the tour. Joshua was very accommodating to all our requests and Sean assisted us with ordering lunch to be picked up between wineries. We were taken to 3 very different wineries where we felt we received the full experience the valley had to offer which included a large, medium, and small winery. Our group all found wines they loved throughout the day, the van was spacious and comfortable, the scenery was amazing, and Sean was very knowledgeable of the vineyards and valley’s history. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic weekend and we would highly recommend this very professional touring company.
My girlfriends and I took this tour, not knowing quite what to expect and Sean was great! So knowledgeable and taught us more than we had ever realized there is to wine making (as we are not as much experts at producing as we are drinking). He was so accommodating and friendly. Also helped us with other things to do around Portland and places to eat. Would definitely recommend this tour company and guide as owner Joshua is also wonderful to work with. Josh and the entire Sea to Summit team were amazing! They coordinated our private tour for my birthday perfectly—our group had a few tricky schedules/specific needs and it wasn't a problem—and they made the whole experience ridiculously fun. Josh knows everyone at each winery and can find you the best deals, the wine was ridiculously good, I can't believe how much wine we got for the price. My friend booked another tour for her in-laws the next day—definitely recommend.
