Välkommen till Bukarest, Rumänien! Din dag i Bukarest börjar med en guidad promenad genom Piata Unirii (Unirii-torget), följt av ett besök i parlamentets palats, den största byggnaden i Europa, som för närvarande är värd för det rumänska parlamentet. Även känd som Folkets hus är den massiva byggnaden 12 våningar hög och har åtta underjordiska nivåer, varav den sista är en anti-atomare bunker som är kopplad till de viktigaste institutionerna i staden genom 20 km katakomber. Konstruktionen är en av världens dyraste byggnader och har Guinness World Record för världens tyngsta byggnad. Byggnaden är dock en hyllning till diktatorisk regim. När kommunismen gradvis förändrade staden och dess arkitektur, var folket hus (Palatul Parlamentului), även känt som republikens hus redan i kommunistperioden, Nicolae Ceausescus uttryck för sin dröm om att återuppfinna Bukarest.
Guidningen fortsätter med att upptäcka Bukarests Calea Victoriei (Victoriei Avenue), en av stadens viktigaste vägar, som sträcker sig över ett område på nästan 3 kilometer. Gatan var först känd som Podul Mogosoaiei och fick sitt faktiska namn efter det rumänska självständighetskriget 1878. Alléen är en av de äldsta gatorna i Bukarest och avslöjar den långtgående skönheten i en förkommunistisk stad, från ett sekel sedan, då staden fortfarande kallades "Lilla Paris."
Resplanen inkluderar också ett besök på Piata Universitatii (Univeristatii Square) och Piata Revolutiei (Revolutiei Square). "Gamla stan" i Bukarest kan beskrivas som en plats med liv och historia, en plats för "kontraster." I samma område finns fler attraktioner som CEC-palatset och Stavropoleos-klostret.
Village Museum (Muzeul National al Satului Dimitrie Gusti), det sista stoppet för din guidade tur, kan beskrivas som en tidsportal som tar dig tillbaka till de autentiska traditionella rumänska byarna från århundraden sedan. Byggt i en unik arkitektonisk stil, är museet ett av de första utomhus etnografiska museerna i världen och är en av de mest besökta kulturella attraktionerna i Rumänien. Village Museum är en unik attraktion som inte går att missa. Besöket i bymuseet avslutar din dag i Bukarest, och sedan kommer du att släppas på ditt hotell i Bukarest.

We had 2 private, half-day tours with Vlad Chiciudean in Bucharest - the city under Ceausescu and the history of Bucharest's Jews. Vlad is smart, funny, super knowledgeable and not only prepared to answer every single question you might have but also to share personal stories that put a human face to the facts. We like experiences that are off the beaten tourist track and Vlad took us to places that I'm pretty sure few visitors have seen. The marble floors, extracted from limestone taken from the Apuseni Mountains, of a subway station, that featured prehistoric fossils. We're still talking about what we learned. If Vlad lived in our town, I'd invite him to dinner!

The price was good for 4 of us, but that was given even more value by the fact it was just the 4 of us on the tour. We were met at reception by Florin. He was very friendly and made it clear to us what the tour entailed and that flexibility was down to us, spend more time at X and maybe less at Y etc. We were then taken around Bucharest for a good 6 hours, including the fantastic Palace of Parliament, the Village Museum and many other sights of interest. The price included entrance to both these and both were very well worth seeing, the palace is truly stunning in scale. Florin had an extensive knowledge of Romanian history and was willing to answer any questions we had and to listen to our perspective of what we knew and had been presented about Romania through our lives......some very big gaps between Western eyes and the real feelings of Romanians at times. Thank you to Florin for making the whole day interesting and intriguing. This full day tour served as our introduction to Bucharest and it far exceeded my expectations. Our guide Alex was very knowledgeable, supplemented the information at the visited sites with valuable additions and insights, answered all of our questions, and arranged our day so as to minimize waits, the oppressive heat and in an order that gave us the best one-day tour of the city. The Village Museum will give you a great start if you plan to explore beyond Bucharest and the Places of Parl. are simply a must! Alex was also a real wiz at Bucharest traffic, which can save the day, and to top it off, he had an amazing recommendation for dinner. Great tour, great guide.
For me the tour was pleasant despite the heat (38°C). The tourist destinations can already be changed or adapted. Good value for money, recommended.

Christi was excellent he was very knowledgeable about Bucharest and the history of Romania. You can tell that he has studied the history thoroughly. Christi was right on time and waiting for us in the lobby and brought water. We visited the palace and all of the important historical sites of Bucharest. It was a value considering all that w saw and learned in one day. I would highly recommenced this tour and Christi.
