100% PRIVAT TOUR! Kliv ombord på en vintage Maine Hummer Boat för en privat, 2-timmars fyr visning och sightseeing charter. Lämna folkmassorna bakom dig när vi kryssar genom öarna i Casco Bay, passerar fyra ikoniska fyrar, historiska fästningar från 1800-talet och den fantastiska Maine-kusten. Charter avgår från Portlands gamla hamn och är perfekt för familjer och små grupper. Varje charter är helt privat för upp till 6 gäster, och alla åldrar är välkomna! Gå ombord på M/V MONHEGAN, en vackert restaurerad hummerbåt i trä, och känn dig som hemma när du kryssar genom Portlands hamn, förbi kajer från perioden strax efter revolutionskriget. Vid ett tillfälle var Portland en av de mest trafikerade hamnarna under de tidiga decennierna av USA, ett faktum som vittnas om av de otroliga stenfästningarna som skyddade hamnen.
Denna lilla fyr markerar ingången till Portland Harbor och är vanligtvis den första av fyra fyrar vi ser på våra sightseeingutflykter ombord på våra vintage träbåtar.
Kom nära Spring Point Light och närliggande Fort Preble, ett litet vapenställe byggt som en del av Portlands hamnförsvar. Fyren var under de första åren inte kopplad till fastlandet av den granitvågbrytare som finns idag, och fartyg som gick på fel sida om fyren gick på grund på grund avsats.
Se Maines mest ikoniska fyr från vattnet. Om vädret och havet tillåter, tillbringar vi tid i vattnet framför fyren för bilder och diskussion om fyrens historia. Vi går inte iland eller turnerar fyren. Fyren är inte öppen för turer eftersom den fortfarande är en aktiv navigeringsfyr.
Ram Island Light, som markerar den motsatta sidan av hamnkanalen från Portland Head Light, sitter på toppen av en stenig avsats och vid högvatten verkar det flyta och helt obundet till land. Medan Portland Head Light har sitt ståtliga djurhållarhus och vackra vitkalkade sidor, är Ram Island Light vittrad och grå nästan otillgänglig, med en nu övergiven pir som leder till en stege som kräver att man klättrar upp 30 fot på utsidan av fyren innan du kommer till dörren.
Casco Bay är världsberömt för sina robusta öar, skyddade vatten och fantastiska landskap. Kryssa förbi några av buktens 200+ öar med trädklädda klippklippor, små fiskesamhällen och söta hamnar.
Som den mest iögonfallande stenfästning som skyddar Portland Harbor, är Fort Gorges ett landmärke som är synligt från stora delar av Casco Bay, vilket är exakt varför det byggdes på denna klippa en kort bit från Peaks och Little Diamond Islands och själva fastlandet. Fortet kunde avfyra mer än ett dussin kanoner mot angripare som kom från alla möjliga sjövägar, men användes aldrig i aktiv strid. Tekniska framsteg inom artilleriet under inbördeskriget gjorde det för sårbart för att vara användbart. Fortet fungerade som en lagringsanläggning för armén under andra världskriget, när undervattensminor, elektromagnetiska avkänningskablar och andra system användes för att skydda Portland och Casco Bay från tysk attack. Kom ihåg att Portland var hem för ett stort varv under andra världskriget och var starten på en pipeline som levererar olja till Montreal och östra Kanada, så regionen var av stor strategisk betydelse även i mer moderna konflikter.
Njut av fantastisk utsikt över de natursköna klipporna på Cushing Island och de trädkantade gatorna och pittoreska stugorna på Peaks Island. En gång hem till flera nöjesparker som trafikerades av direkta ångbåtslinjer från New York, är Peaks nu ett lugnt öområde som tekniskt sett är en del av staden Portland men som har en helt egen småstadskänsla. När höstens färger är i full sikt har de flesta säsongsbetonade invånare återvänt till sina vanliga hem, och Peaks är hem för bara ett par hundra hjärtliga själar året runt som måste ta en färja eller vattentaxi för att komma till fastlandet.

SCAM. Do not schedule this tour. Called me 15 minutes after they told me they would be there. "Engine trouble." Was $380 per person or $740 for six people. I think they realized and just canceled.

We enjoyed the cruise. We were celebrating our 58th anniversary. However. we had no address for the meeting place, only a name and Google maps couldn't find it. A local tour company was also no help. Ended up calling Trip Advisor for information on where to meet our boat. Luckily we went an hour early or we would have missed the boat! And there were no free drinks as advertised.

Truly the best charter experience in Portland! This is the third trip I have taken with a small group on Casco Bay Custom Charters and they are professional, accommodating and fun.
