I received multiple conflicting emails (including ones with template (insert business here) stating 1) they'll meet us at the pier with our name on a sign or 2) we need to walk across town and meet them at Marti Sports. I received final directions via email the day before to arrive at Marti Sports, but of course I was over international waters without any internet so I didn't get the email until I arrived at the port. Kinda dumb on their part, tbh. Regardless, my native Spanish-speaking and Mexican-born friend and I left the ship and looked for my name. Nothing. So we headed to Marti Sports. Thankfully they provided a map in an earlier email, but we still had to ask around. We eventually found it and arrived outside Marti Sports at 8:15am local time We waited 45 minutes and asked every tour guide we saw for the name of our guide, "Hugo". Nobody knew who that was, and we were constantly being pestered by taxi drivers which was incredibly annoying. We tried calling the number provided in all emails, but the number was disconnected and no longer in service. We even asked another helpful local tour guide to call the number, just in case it was a roaming issue. Nope, same message. He was really surprised and couldn't believe this company gave us a bad phone number seeing how clearly written out in bold it was in all emails and instructions. At 0900 my friend and I gave up and went with another local jeep driver who was a little more expensive but great. I emailed this company and requested a refund. They wrote back saying the driver was there waiting for us and we never showed, a complete lie seeing we literally asked everyone we saw for "Hugo". Don't book with this company, they'll stress you out and your driver will never show. No matter how prepared you are or how much research you do, sometimes you just get scammed in Mexico.
This its not our bussines !!! we dont have a hugo in our team!!! so please check which bussines you guys did the booking as we alwys have our tour guides on time and thats not our meeting location.
Yousef was a genuinely nice and friendly guy. Unfortunately, the tour itself was disappointing as we barely followed the original itinerary. The lunch provided was quite small and just okay. We were also expecting a driver, but instead ended up driving the jeep ourselves, which wasn’t a huge issue but still unexpected. We stopped at a tequila tasting spot where we tried several options, but it felt like we were being pressured to buy a bottle. Overall, the experience was just okay, but it didn’t live up to our expectations.
Tour operator did not show up at pick up location, and phone number to call the operation was not in service. For cruise passenger, I highly recommend sticking with booking tours though the cruise directly or book on the spot with vendor. We got off MSC cruise in Cozumel and instructions on our Jeep tour ticket said to meet at Hooters. New fast, there is no Hooters, the restaurant was shut down and now called Now & Then (locals helped us navigate to figure it out.) We went to the old Hooters location and called the tour operator; no response. Upon return, I called Viator, who I booked this tour with…Viator subcontracted this tour out and the short of it said that are not able to issue a refund because the tour operator did not approve. SUCKS and RIPOFF. We traveled April 2026.
Highly recommend. Our guide was Fernando, highly recommend asking for him. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. People like him are the reason we'll make Cozumel a yearly trip for our family.
Booked this tour with Nexus at our hotel and did not get the tour described. First they charged us $95pp not 74 as advertised. Second they substituted sites visited. First stop a private facility where we were bombarded by a short private Mayan dancers, photo taking, tequila, chocolate and honey tasting, with tip jars everywhere and trying to sell us overpriced stuff at every activity. We did not go to San Gervasio. Next stops were 2 beach sites on the east coast with vendors everywhere , especially overpriced bars. Finally went to Punta Sur eco park where we got free snorkelling and lunch, but again overpriced drinks and sales pitch buying our snorkelling video. We then visited the lighthouse and museum, best part of the day but time limited. We never made it to Chankannub. Our driver was pleasant but not a tour guide and did not offer any tour info and could not answer many of our questions. Shame on Nexus tours for this bait and switch tour.
Hello We don't work with nexus, so I think you post this review in the wrong listing please check the company that you went out with!!!!
We had a lovely visit to Cozumel thanks to our guide Emily. We saw Mayan ruins, taste tasted some yummy chocolate and tequila, stopped at several picturesque spots...enjoyed some delicious tacos and got in some snorkeling. We got a lot in and it was definitely worth it. They're gonna try and sell ya stuff (which we DID buy because we wanted to) but that's tourism and we knew what we were getting into. Overall, a terrific experience. Thank Emily!
We had a fantastic time! Emily was our guide and she had the whole day planned out. We did tequila tasting, drove through the unbeaten path, explored a natural sinkhole with caves. Lunch was amazing! We learned the history of Cozumel…it was such a fun day!
This was one of the best tour experiences we’ve ever had. We felt like VIPs with this private tour and it was sooo worth it! No waiting for other people, or crowded tour, and a personalized experience based on our interests. Our guide, Alejandra was absolutely amazing and gave us the very best Cozumel experience. Our snorkel master and waiters at the beach cub were also phenomenal. We may only book private excursions moving forward if they are anything like this experience. Thank you for making our trip so amazing Alejandra! 🥰
I booked a jeep excursion for two. My guide was wonderful! We were suppose to see ruins, snorkeling, eco park, and the east coast of Cozumel. We only saw the east coast and a Tequila tasting (which we were not suppose to do). We didn’t do ANYTHING else that I signed up for. Our guide did her best, however. Granted, it did rain which was unusual, but we still could have seen the ruins, the east coast, and possibly snorkel. Our poor guide was given a jeep with the check engine light on the whole time. The windshield wipers only worked for a few seconds, so she had to keep turning on the wipers after 5 seconds, repeatedly. Viator and the tour operator should be ashamed to call this an excursion. They took our money, no problem, but failed to provide the promised water bottles and snorkeling gear. Don’t book this excursion, it was nothing like it was billed, again, our poor driver did her best! We even had a /Mexican policeman at a checkpoint, threaten to confiscate the jeep, because our driver didn’t have the appropriate drivers license. She had to call the tour operator and he talked to the policeman, before the policeman let us go. Viator should do a better job vetting their tour operators. Just because you book through Viator, do not think you are going to get a reputable or safe tour.
This experience, if booked through Viator, will require you to leave the port and walk to a plaza just outside the port. There weren't any signs or markings for the company at the port or outside the port to help me find where they were. The company was responsive and helpful via email and phone though when I reached out to find them. There was no tour itinerary given to us so we didn't really know where on the island we were going to go. This would've been good to know for our planning and expectations. However I didn't call and talk to the company ahead of time to ask these questions either. I would suggest calling and talking with the company if you have specific things you want to see, espetthe Mayan sites. There is a place on the island of Cozumel but we weren't able to go and see it because it is a business and it closed early (didn't make it because of my poor planning). Overall we saw a good portion of the island, got some snorkeling in, had a good lunch and made it back to the ship. Julio was a great guide with good knowledge of the area. If there is anything specific you want to do, just ask the guides and they will accommodate you if they can. We stopped at a small ranch where they had us try homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and did a tequila tasting. The tequila is for sale and the guy folks at the ranch want tips for info and tastings. The beaches on the east side (ocean side) were great. We didn't go into Downtown Cozumel so make sure to ask the guide if you want to go there. Overall, the tour was good.
