Interesting to visit the local villages and to see the difference between the very touristy and the very local villages. Our guide was excellent and gave us a comprehensive understanding of village life and the agricultural seasons as well as the local arts and crafts.
We enjoyed the trip and the guide was very kind but feel it was extremely expensive for what it was. The entrance tickets to Cat Cat village would have been £30 in total for seven of us and a taxi there would have cost a few pounds. The tour around one of the villages was interesting which we wouldn’t have been able to do on our own. The third stop was a walk to Sailing Sapa cafe/restaurant which is beautiful but again could be done independently in a taxi. For almost £280 it was vastly over priced and by far the most expensive tour we did in the whole of Vietnam.
Hi, thank you very much for your feedback. We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the trip and found the guide kind and helpful. We’d like to kindly clarify a few points regarding the pricing. We arranged a van transfer for your group, and although your pick-up location was outside Sapa town (out of the standard pick-up area), we did not apply any additional surcharge for this service. Transportation in mountainous areas like Sapa also involves higher fuel consumption, especially with current fuel costs. For a group of seven people, comparing with a single taxi may not fully reflect the actual cost, as it would usually require multiple vehicles. In addition, the tour price includes not only transportation and entrance fees, but also a professional guide, trip organization, and support from our operations team to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. That said, we truly appreciate your feedback and will take it into account to better communicate the value of our tours in the future. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back on another experience.
I have problem with my knees and I’m glad I found this tour and was able to enjoy our trip in Sapa. Our tour guide Cece picked me and my husband from our hotel and were driven around in a car to go around the itinerary. We moved at our own pace and not rushed as compared with a group tour. Cece was a very good tour guide and our photographer. Recommended for those who can’t trek and still see all the best spots.
This was absolutely a fabulous way to see Cat Cat village , and surrounding smaller villages. Our tour guide Pang was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We couldn’t have had a better experience. We highly recommend this tour of SaPa
I don’t know if I missed some details in the tour description as I hadn’t registered that there was quite so many ‘steps’ down to Cat Cat village. It was really tough on ‘bad’ knees. I worked it out afterwards that the option of the 15 minute walk or the 30 minute walk would’ve resulted in a gentle slope walking into the village, or hundreds of uneven stone steps between market stalls all the way down ( where the sellers are very keen to get you to buy). What was missing here from our guide was probably some commentary or engagement with the sellers and explanations of what they were selling. - as we might’ve supported them and understood a little more - instead it was a straight descent to the village at the bottom. Which was worth visiting, and lots to see ( many people in traditional dress taking photos. ). It was all just ‘OK’. All questions and dialogue mostly came from us to our guide rather than being offered.
We also appreciate your comments regarding the guiding experience along the way. Cat Cat Village has many local sellers and cultural elements, and we agree that more explanation and engagement would have added greater value and helped guests better understand and support the local community. This is important feedback, and we will address it directly with our guiding team to improve storytelling, cultural interpretation, and proactive communication during the tour. We’re glad to hear that you still found the village itself worth visiting and interesting, despite the challenges. Thank you again for sharing your experience — your feedback genuinely helps us improve the quality of our tours. We hope to have another opportunity to welcome you back in Sapa for a more comfortable and enriching experience in the future.
So glad we picked this tour. For $45 per person we got more than our money's worth. A private tour, the guide, Pang, picked us up at our hotel in a nice sedan with a driver. Free water bottles and we first went to Cat Cat village. As we walked she covered all sorts of relevant topics about the area and people, stopping to see a woman using weaving loom and another on how they make the dye. After over an hour in Cat Cat, we went to a rendezvous point for the car instead of walking all the way back up the hill, nice. Then we drove on to her village where she showed us how the people lived how she grew up, it was so interesting. We learned how rice paddies work and met some farmers. After a couple more stops to learn more about the area and its people, we headed back to our hotel in sapa. About 3.5 hours.
We really enjoyed the tour through the villages and rice fields. Cat Cat was really amazing. It was nice having the car drop us off at one end and picking us up at the other end.
We had a very enjoyable time walking through the villages and rice fields. Cat Cat is very beautiful. It was nice being dropped off at one end of the village and picked up at the other end.
We had the absolute pleasure of taking a half-day private tour of the Hmong Villages and the stunning rice terraces with Dzi, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we met Dzi, we knew we were in great hands. As a member of the Hmong community herself, Dzi offered a personal perspective that made the experience feel authentic and meaningful. The walk through the rice terraces was absolutely breathtaking. This tour felt like more than sightseeing—it was a cultural experience. Highly recommend this tour with Dzi to anyone visiting the area.
Fantastic tour with wonderful tour guide Zizi. Lots of information about local villages, customs and traditions. We had to alter tour due to conditions of roads and Cat Cat village being closed after recent Typhoon. We actually got to visit Zizi home village and house instead which was fantastic experience.
