Khmer Rouge förvandlade Toul Sleng High School till ett centrum för förhör, tortyr och död. Tusentals foto av offren kan ses i varje rum. Du går långsamt och undersöker material som används för förhör av fångar. Efter det reser vi cirka 15 km mot sydväst om Phnom Penh och vi kommer fram till Choeung Ek. Minnesmärket vid Choeung Ek strax utanför Phnom Penh var en fruktträdgård! Och en kinesisk kyrkogård före 1975. Under Khmer Rouge-regimen blev det ett av de dödande fälten platsen för de brutala avrättningarna av mer än 17 000 individer, av vilka de flesta först led av tortyr och berövande i Toul Sleng-fängelset. Choeung Ek är nu en grupp massgravar och en minnesstupa som innehåller tusentals skallar. Kom tillbaka till hotellet och släpp.

Tuol Sleng var en tidigare gymnasium som Khmer Rouge förvandlade till ett centrum för förhör, tortyr och död. Idag är det ett museum för tortyr och tjänar till att påminna besökarna om de fruktansvärda grymheterna som inträffade i Kambodja. 17 000 människor passerade genom fängelserna i detta fängelse och bara sju bodde för att berätta historien.
Fångar från Tuol Sleng följde samma väg till deras öde. Choeng Ek, en gammal kinesisk kyrkogård, förvandlades till ett utrotningsläger för politiska fångar. Resterna av 8985 personer exponerades från massgravar och förvaras i en minnesstupa här. Trots det förflutna skräcket är det en lugn plats att gå och en lugn plats att reflektera över de tragiska händelserna som uppslukade Kambodja och dess människor.

On our first visit to Phnom Penh, we felt we needed to visit the Killing Fields and Genocidal Museum to understand the full extent of the atrocities that happened here, but also to pay our respect to the victims. Ms Thavy was an excellent private guide, allowing us to move at our own pace, giving us clear explanations for everything we saw, but also giving us time alone to see and reflect on the mass graves and the museum exhibits. It was a hard morning, and what we really found difficult, was that this all happened in our lifetime. Thank you Ms Thavy for your knowledge, guidance and professionalism - you made a difficult experience easier.

A sobering and sad experience but important to learn about . Our guide Mrs Thavy was very good in explaining the true horrors of what happened here. Excellent tour. Boat was easy. We had early pickup so rushed through early breakfast at hotel but need not have bothered - croissant and fruit on board would have been sufficient. Guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Great day

We had a fantastic tour with Mr Silong to S21 and the Killing Fields. Mr Silong spoke excellent English and was so informative about the history. Mrs. Thavy Was an amazing guide. She shared with us her personal experience with losing her father and the survival of her family. The subject matter is horrific, but we should all see the evil that can be done so we can stop it from happening again.

The Killing Field trip was a difficult one, but Mrs. Sreyneang was an excellent guide. She explained in detail what had happened, but with empathy and at a speed that we could digest it all. Her knowledge and caring came through and we felt lucky to have such an amazing tour guide. She even took us to meet the last two living survivors of the prison. That is something we won't forget. We recommend that everyone do this tour so we all fully understand how awful human beings can be to each other. It also shows how much people tried to help each other in a desperate time.
