Morgon klockan 9 hämtar du från ditt hotell eller din önskade plats i Hyderabad och åker ut på en heldags guidad utflykt till Weaving Village of Pochampally (02 timmars bilresa från Hyderabad) - där man observerar en blandning av tradition, modernitet, kultur, historia och naturligtvis den berömda IKKAT. Byn är allmänt känd för Pochampally sarees. Staden med vackert hantverk samlas av frodig grönska och kullar. Denna natursköna livsmiljö finns i UNESCO: s lista över världsarv som en del av "Iconic saree weaving cluster in India". Pochampally har traditionella vävstolar, vars design är mer än hundra år gammal. Pochampally väver, under kärlek i nivå med vävare på andra platser, är populärt känt som slips och färgämne väv. Det unika ligger i överföringen av design och färgning till varp- och inslagstrådar först och sedan väver dem ihop. Tyget är vanligtvis bomull, siden och sico - en blandning av siden och bomull. I allt högre grad är färgerna själva från naturliga källor och deras blandningar. Konsument-väverinteraktioner ger input för ny design. Vävarna från den äldre och den nya generationen har visat motståndskraft och anpassat sig efter konsumenternas föränderliga smak. Besök vävare, spendera tid på att lära känna dem, deras livsstil och processen för att väva ikkat. Gå till lite traditionell lunch (på egen kostnad) och besök sedan Pochampally-museet följt av en kort promenad längs sjön och ett besök i huset med 101 dörrar! Very good tour with personal knowledge of Hyderabad. Textile tour was amazing and great to see all of the different steps involved in making the final textile. More enjoyment of the tour, less with the pressure to buy at the subsequent musuems/store.

Great seeing how done textiles are made but most of it was just a sales pitch to get us to buy over priced trinkets. If you are nervous about shipping on your own and are willing to pay 2-5 times the market rate to have a good guide this may be for you. If you are looking for an in depth understanding of cultural/historical textile manufacturing you may be better served on another tour.
Srinivas our guide gave us a most enjoyable day. We visited a village where we saw the tie dye process and walked through the village. We visited beautiful shops. It was a long drive out of hydrabad but our driver got us through the traffic efficiently. It was good to learn so much about India and the area of Hydrabad from a resident of the area

Mr. Srinivas gave me the most wonderful solo tour of Bhoodan Pochampally. He was a wonderful host and incredibly knowledgeable. The village that we visited for handmade ikat was amazing. You get to learn about the process for making this very special fabric from start to finish. We met artists in their homes and watched them create. I bought beautiful fabric that I will cherish forever. It was such a great experience to go outside of the city and see village life as well.

Amazing trip! Even the drive there was full of fascinating information about India and Hyderabad. Then we went into the dye and weaving houses to see the process of making this amazing saris. I came out of it with a greater appreciation of the art, as well as the time, effort, and skill involved in making them. It makes the stunning sari fabric I bought even more special. That was a theme with Srinu as my guide - not only did I have opportunities to see and purchase amazing textiles, pearls, and bidri metalwork, but every stop focused on showing me the beautiful art and educating me on the details and the process. Absolutely a great use of your time in India!
