Upptäck Ungerns rika historia och natursköna natur längs ”Blå Donau”. Från Budapest besöker du Esztergom för att se Ungerns största basilika och njuta av utsikten över Slovakien från Castle Hill. Fortsätt till Visegrád för att utforska det kungliga slottet (entré ingår) med fantastisk utsikt över Donaukröken. Njut av lunch på en traditionell ungersk restaurang (ingår ej) och bege dig sedan till Szentendre, den charmiga konstnärsstaden. Ungerns huvudstad och är fortfarande centrum för den katolska kyrkan. Vi besöker Ungerns största katedral (också begravningsplats för kända kardinaler, som Primate József Mindszenty)
Visegrád: Efter den mongoliska invasionen byggdes en ny befästning här på mitten av 1200-talet. För närvarande är det ett museum. Övre delen av kullen erbjuder ett fascinerande panorama på Donau-dalen.
Szentendre: Det är en liten barockstad byggd på medeltida ruiner, som ligger vid porten av Donau Bend. Staden anses vara konstnärsbyen eller målmästarens stad. Vi går runt det historiska centrum och njuter av de kullerstensbelagda smala gatorna liksom de barocka husen. Efter den guidade rundturen kan du också besöka några museer (till exempel det berömda keramiska museet Margit Kovács eller konfektyrsmuseet med marcipanfigurer).

A great tour. Surprised to find we were the only two on the tour but made it a very personal experience. Beautiful views of the Danube bend. Unfortunately Esztergom Basilica is having renovation work done on it so we weren’t able to access parts but the Visegrad castle was amazing. Lots of steps and brilliant views. Lunch was really good too and Szentendre picture postcard perfect. Our guides were really friendly and informative and looked after us well.
My family and I had a wonderful time, touring the basilica and old castle we visited. Our guide and driver were very accomodating, including giving us a few more minutes at the end of the tour for shopping in the artisan's village. But the biggest surprise was the luncheon, which was absolutely delicious! Most tour food is mediocre at best, but the goulash and main course was terrific followed by a wonderful dessert! I can hightly recommend this trip!
We love learning the history of an area. This tour filled our desires. We thought it would be a small group but it was just the driver, Zorba, the guide, forgotten name, and the 2 of us. We had a perfect day for traveling outside the city. During the drive we learned about the history and culture ofBudapest, Hungary. Our first stop was the Cathedral of Ezhergon. We crossed the river into Slovakia to view the Cathedral from the riverside; our guide said that this rated one of the most beautiful views in the world. Then we traveled onto Visegard castle. This castle is from the 1100's and requires quite a bit of walking (we were glad we couldn't do the tower at the cathedral). The views from castle were amazing and the history of the castle fascinating. We stopped at a local restaurant that served in a medieval style. Finally, we went to the small village of St. Andrews. Again, lots of walking through the cobblestone streets and alleys. The small village is full of shops and cafes. We stopped at the marzipan museum to see sculptures of fairy tales, structures, and Michael Jackson--all made of marzipan. This day was one of the highlights of our river cruise trip.
