Expo98 är där världsmässan 1998 ägde rum, nu kallad "Parque das Nações", det är det senaste distriktet / kvarteret i staden Lissabon där du kan beundra några av de vackraste underverk av modern arkitektur.
Det äldsta kvarteret i Lissabon går tillbaka till tiden för morerna erövring av staden. Vi utforskar de smala kullerstensgatorna och gatorna där fasaderna på traditionella hus är täckta med vackra plattor, ett arabiskt arv på den iberiska halvön. Lissabon-katedralen (byggd 1448) och St. Anthony Church också i detta område.
"Baixa Pombalina" med sin stads- och geometriska arkitektoniska plan, den blev modellen som användes vid byggandet av andra nya städer, särskilt i den nya världen. Här kommer vi att besöka de berömda torgarna "Praça do Comércio" och "Rossio", Rua Augusta ( den viktigaste gågatan i Portugal med sin berömda Triumfbåge.
Parque Eduardo Sétimo: På väg till “Parque Eduardo VII kommer vi att köra genom” Avenida da Liberdade ”, Lissabons Champs d’Élysées, en av de vackraste vägarna i världen. Förutom den unika gröna vegetationen är den också känd för sina nationella och internationella varumärkesbutiker, ett paradis för glamorösa shoppinggrenar. Vi kommer förbi det mest imponerande monumentet i Lissabon, en hyllning till en av Portugals största nationella hjältar, Marquis de Pombal. När vi anländer till toppen av ”Parque Eduardo VII” kan vi beundra den underbara utsikten över staden och floden Tagus. Ponte 25 de Abril e Monumento do Cristo Rei.
Belem är distriktet / kvarteret i Lissabon som är tillägnad de stora portugisiska upptäcktsresande under 15- och 1500-talet. Portugal var det första globaliserade landet i världen med sin upptäcktsresande till alla kontinenter. Det portugisiska imperiet blev ett av de största i mänsklighetens historia. De majestätiska monumenten som vi hittar här är en återspegling av den gyllene eran i Portugals historia: ”
Mosteiro dos Jeronimos ”, Tower of Belem och Monumentet för upptäckterna med statyer av de stora portugisiska sjömännen och upptäcktsresande, bland andra Pedro Alvares Cabral, Vasco da Gama. Slutligen finns det ett måste besöka den berömda “Pasteis de Belem”, ett av Portugals mest typiska bakverk / godis.
Det bohemiska kvarteret Chiado förstördes av en fruktansvärd brand 1988 och var föremål för ett noggrant återuppbyggnadsprojekt som leddes av den portugisiska arkitekten Álvaro de Sisa Vieira. Det är utan tvekan det mest trafikerade distriktet i Lissabon. Det är här som gatorna "Rua do Carmo" och "Rua Garrett", där vi kan hitta Café "A Brasileira" (med en staty av poeten och författaren Fernando Pessoa, en vanlig kund på detta kafé), livnar upp varje dag!

It was a great way to see the city. Our guide Jose was a scholar of history. He took us to the top landmarks during our 7 hour tour. Jose made the history come alive with stories he shared. He introduced us to the delicious pasteis de Belem custard tarts when we stopped for coffee! We have many photos and a very memorable time. We were so fortunate to spend our excursion day with him.
Jose is a great asset to our company. He's part of the best driver-guiding team in the country and Premiere Tours is so proud of all of them.
Trip across the April 25th Bridge and view of the City from the southern shore, the church of Jerónimos, the pastels of Belém, the Maritime Museum were all memorable. Our guide was very informative and interesting. His sharing of scholarly knowledge acquired through his research for his doctoral thesis was fascinating and also memorable.

This comprehensive tour of Lisbon shows you all the city's main highlights. My driver-guide, Jorge, was highly welcoming and demonstrated his extensive historical and cultural knowledge with a lightness of touch. The pace of the tour was perfect, combining walking and free time so that I could explore places I wanted to visit in more detail. The tour's highlight was spending time with Jorge exploring the Jeronimos Monastery and adjacent Santa Maria Church. I would have missed so much in both places if I had gone alone. This is the perfect one day tour of Lisbon.

This tour was far from being Premiere!! Showed up in a 1990s Mercedes and the aircon was barely working when we got going. As the day heated up, the aircon stopped all together. Had to drive around with the windows down. Too hot for that. Asked the driver to abandon the tour after four hours of stinking heat. Rang the office and the only solution offered was to get another car and start again. Way too hot for that now. Management flipped the blame to the customer. That I should have rung him and reported it. Thought that was the drivers job as the coolant light came on in the first hour. And he did report it. Ruined one of our last days in Lisbon! Do not book with these guys. All about keeping the cash!!
Every so often, unfortunately, we come across some people that will do and say anything to get a free ride. People are not as dumb as you think they are Mr. DougP and they can judge for the overwhelming amount of 5 stars rating that Premiere Tours proudly has gotten since it started in this business 29 years ago. Your lies do not count. I hope you will develop a conscience some day.
I just wanted to say that we had two wonderful, insightful and educational tours with Premiere. We had a tour in Porto and the guide was very educated, spoke wonderful English and took us to everything we needed to see in Porto. It was superb. Our second tour was in Lisbon with Jorge. He was very educated on everything about Portugal. No stone was left unturned. He was answered all of our questions and brought us to all of the important places. He was amazing and made our day in Lisbon one not to soon forget. I can't say enough wonderful things about Premiere and I would highly recommend them and use them again when I return to Portgual.
