A friend of mine recommended David and Adrian for a tour of Romania and Bulgaria. I had been to Romania before but this was the first time I had a chance to go by car and see the countryside . From leaving Bucharest and going through Transylvania then The Transfagarsan highway it was breathtaking. The scenery was forested, mountains and ever changing. I saw bears on the road, a lake, dam and ate typical Romanian country side cuisine . My trip then took me to many places : Transylvania, Maramures , Bucovina and Dobrigea region near the Black Sea. After that o changed tour guides to Adrian who took me into Bulgaria, Balchik, Plovdiv, Sofia and Velko Ternovo and ended up Bucharest for a day tour. I stayed on different villages and home stays and experienced different cultural transitions and foods. David taught me so much about Eastern Orthodoxy and church development and monestaries and naive art. Additionally he has angreat sense of humor annd knows how's to intertwine it with the tour . If you take a tour with him ansk him anbout the French Tourist and Bizets Carmen. Adrian was very knowledgeable about antiquity, the Roman and Greek eras . I was also introduced to monument foods and markets . We would stop on the side of the road to take interesting photos of landscapes , villagers and even the Tsar of Bulgaria and former prime minster himself Simeon II and that was because of my Tour guide Adrian who is one of the best human beings I have ever met . Adrian son George took me on amorablentourbif Bucharest and the important sites and I had a blast on my last day in Romania. I plan to do another tour with this company again and you should too. Well worth it!
We did a tour of the interesting places in Romania (unesco sights). We had 2 nights in the countryside in rural villages which gave us an insight to the traditional romanian life and the rest of the nights in modern or historic cities. We saw impressive sights like Corvin castle, painted churches, wooden churches, Merry cemetery, bran castle, alba iulia fort, peles castle, arts and crafts, and much more. David was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was passionate about the Romanian culture and history. It was as if we had a personal historian with us. If we had concerns, he was able to accommodate us. The food was great but they definitely eat a lot of pork. The traditional food is very hearty and savory. The trip gave us a great overview and we would definitely do the tour again.
My friend and I opted to take the UNESCO tour because I have wanted to see the painted monasteries for years. This tour showed me so much more than that and allowed me to get a stronger understanding of the art, history, and culture of Romania. I am so glad we went and highly encourage anyone to consider this tour if they want a personalized and personable experience in a unique country!
Having travelled to 107 countries, our visit to Romania, with Visit Transilvania, was one of the best experiences we have ever had. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely accommodating. I would recommend these folks for any tours in Romania, Moldova or Bulgaria. They certainly go beyond.
