Det romerska teatermuseet, designat av arkitekten Rafael Moneo, tar besökarna in i monumentet och förvandlar den romerska teatern till dess sista stora sal.
Consistorial Palace of Cartagena, även känt som Cartagena City Hall, är en av de viktigaste modernistiska byggnaderna i staden, byggd mellan 1900 och 1907. Det är en triangulär byggnad. Fasaden är helt i vit marmor och zinkkupolerna sticker ut på taket. Hela exteriören är upprepade gånger dekorerad med stadens emblem: slottet Conception av stadens vapensköld och väggmålningens krona, som tilldelades av den romerske generalen Scipio Africanus när han intog staden Carthago Nova.

Staden Carthago Nova var en av de mest fantastiska i det romerska imperiet. Sedan republikansk tid hade den en stor amfiteater. Det romerska forumet i Carthago Nova var beläget i centrum av staden, vid sammanflödet av huvudvägarna och mellan bergen. Forumet låg ungefär under det nuvarande San Francisco-torget och har delvis grävts ut. Bland de viktigaste monumenten i forumet som hittills har hittats är: - Tempel tillägnat den kapitolinska triaden: Jupiter, Juno och Minerva. - Augusteum. - Kurian, säte för kolonins regering. - Bad och palestra från den låga kejsartiden. - Isis tempel.
Vid den puniska muren kommer du in i en av de viktigaste episoderna i Medelhavets historia, de puniska krigen mellan karthagerna och romarna. Du kommer att lära dig om Qart Hadasts legendariska förflutna som grundades av general Asdrubal 229 f.Kr. och dess viktigaste plats, muren, en av de få karthagiska lämningarna som finns i Spanien. We shared a wonderful afternoon with Noelia. She is a lovely young lady with good history and stories of Cartagena. The Roman Amphitheater is amazing. Lost under rubble and homes for 2000 years and found by chance. The facades of Cartagena are beautiful in the old city. We highly recommend this tour.

Noelia is the most wonderful guide! It felt like we were walking around Cartagena with a friend. Her personal stories as a native of the area brought the history to life. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know much about the Spanish Civil War before this trip, but she helped us understand it and its impact to Cartagena and so many other communities. Know if you’re visiting on a Monday that most museums and landmarks are closed, but Noelia was so knowledgeable that it didn’t matter! And she was able to get us into a museum which we had all to ourselves! What a treat, especially since it was raining outside, it gave us a chance to keep learning and dry off :-) She was even kind enough to take us to a place for authentic Asiatico (espresso with Licorice 43 among other tasty ingredients) and help us find a reputable retailer to get a few glasses with the recipe to take home. At the end of our tour she recommended some non-tourist local spots for lunch and she was spot on. We had the most amazing experience because of her expertise, kindness, and patience. I hope to come back in the future and get in contact with her again. People like Noelia make travel adventures joyful and easy :-) Don’t do Cartagena on your own, book with Noelia and see the city in a way that only someone local can unveil for you.
