Riksdagen byggdes 1894 för det första tyska parlamentet. Efter första världskriget blev det hem för Weimarrepublikens parlament. Sedan, det 1933, kort efter Hitlers övertagande till makten, förstörde en brand mycket av insidan och byggnaden stängdes. Hitler behövde inget parlament. Det var inte förrän återföreningen som byggnaden restaurerades och det nya tyska parlamentet var redo att flytta in.
Brandenburger Tor kan mycket väl vara Berlins, nej, Tysklands mest kända landmärke.
Unter den Linden börjar vid slottet Hohenzollern och slutar vid Brandenburger Tor. Några av Berlins äldsta byggnader som Operan och Kronprinzenpalais ligger här.
Besök Sony Center med dess fantastiska arkitektur och se Tysklands äldsta trafikljus. Se resterna av Berlinmuren och arkitektur av Renzo Piano, Hans Kollhoff och Helmut Jahn.
På platsen för det tidigare SS- och Gestapo-högkvarteret har byggnadernas grund grävts ut och ett dokumentationscenter har lagts till. Du kommer också att se resterna av Berlinmuren.
Detta var definitivt den mest kända av Berlinmurens checkpoints. Den här var reserverad för militär personal och utländska, mestadels amerikanska besökare som ville komma in i den östra delen av staden under det kalla kriget.
Berlins vackraste torg med den tyska kupolen på ena sidan och den franska kupolen på den andra. I centrum: Schinkels Konzerthaus.
Berlinkupolen är Tysklands största protestantiska kyrka efter St. Peters modell. Hohenzollern brukade dyrka här och många av deras familjemedlemmar, bland dem kung Friedrich Wilhelm I och hans hustru är begravda här.
De fem museerna på Museiön har erkänts som ett Unescos världsarv. Stanna efter din rundtur och besök Pergamon och/eller Neues Museum!

We could not have had a more positive experience than with our guide, Winfried. He is a wonderful, warm, affable and highly knowledgable man who has lived a wide and varied life and thus has so much to offer. We had such a great time and learned so much about Berlin. As a long time resident, he was able to weave in his first hand accounts that made it all come to life in such a pleasant and personal manner. It also was wonderful to ride on public busses & trains with him, it not only helped us get around rapidly but demonstrated how easily we could later navigate it ourselves.

Thomas was the most captivating, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide we’ve ever had in Europe. Definitely book in advance. At the beginning of your trip you will have a nice overview of the city. Audio guide taking and Dutch is possible. Both entrance and audio guide are free.

I had another company set up two private tours in Berlin. They chose A Friend in Berlin and my guide was Josh. I'm a bit remiss in posting a review. I had the tours in mid-September and then got carried away by the rest of my trip. But I enjoyed the tours so much I wanted to make sure that I gave them a five-star rating. Josh was knowledgeable, interesting and interested in my questions and what I wanted to see. The first tour was a Highlights of Berlin scheduled for the day after my arrival. I really felt that I got an excellent baseline of the city, its history and its culture. The second tour piggybacked on the first with a bit more emphasis on WWII. I would highly recommend A Friend in Berlin.
