Mer än 30 palats och trädgårdar i Berlin och Brandenburg inbjuder besökare att göra livliga tidsresor tillbaka in i de preussiska kungarnas och drottningarnas lysande era. Deras paradisiska skönhet är i linje med deras sobriquet "Prussian Arcadia". Bland dessa finns det världsberömda palatset Sanssouci i Potsdam och palatset Charlottenburg i Berlin.
Fredrik den Stores nöjespalats har vacker arkitektur i rokokostil och en magnifik palatsträdgård. Den 14 april 1745 lades grundstenen till dagens världsberömda Sanssouci-palats. Sanssouci är ett mästerverk ensemble av arkitektur, skulpturer och trädgårdskonst.
En kolossal palatsbyggnad, med dess höga tamburkupol som känns igen på långt håll, reser sig upp i den västra änden av Hauptallee (huvudpromenaden) i Sanssouci Park: Neues Palais (Nya palatset). I stark kontrast till det intima och ganska blygsamma Sanssouci-palatset tjänade det stora palatskomplexet officiella, representativa behov. Stora bankettsalar, fantastiska gallerier och kungligt designade sviter, för att inte tala om Sanssoucis barockpalatsteater i den södra flygeln, väntar på besökare i dess interiör. Utvalda verk av 1700-talskonst och dekorativ konst kan beskådas på palatset i sina ursprungliga sammanhang. Det nya palatset är det sista kungliga residenset Fredrik den Store skulle ha byggt i sin park. Det var en demonstration av den preussiska statens oförminskade makt och rikedom efter sjuårskrigets (1756–63) berövanden.
Det holländska kvarteret, i dagligt tal också känt som det holländska kvarteret, är ett distrikt i centrala Potsdam som byggdes mellan 1733 och 1742 som en del av den andra stadsexpansionen under ledning av den holländska byggmästaren Jan Bouman från Amsterdam.[1] Kvarteret består av 134 tegelhus, som är uppdelade i fyra torg av Mittelstrasse och Benkertstrasse. Under Friedrich Wilhelm I, känd som "soldatkungen", planerades stadsdelen och de två västra torgen byggdes. Efter hans död 1740 lät hans son och efterträdare Fredrik II kvarteret med de två östra torgen färdigställa i stort sett enligt faderns planer.
Cecilienhof Country House, byggt 1913–17 enligt ritningar av Paul Schultze i stil med en herrgård, var det sista palatset som byggdes av Hohenzollerns. Från den 17 juli till den 2 augusti 1945 ägde toppmötet mellan andra världskrigets segermakter rum här, där de "tre stora" deltog – den amerikanske presidenten Harry S. Truman, den brittiske premiärministern Winston Churchill (följt av hans efterträdare Clement) Attlee), och den sovjetiske statschefen Joseph Stalin. Potsdamkonferensen var en av de viktigaste historiska händelserna under 1900-talet. Den ses runt om i världen som en symbol för slutet av andra världskriget och början av det kalla kriget, vilket ledde till Europas delning och Berlinmurens uppförande. Potsdamavtalet som antogs vid Cecilienhof lade grunden för en ny ordning i Tyskland, Europa och världen efter andra världskriget.

Shady was our guide today. He was knowledgeable and took time to make sure we saw things we wanted to see. The tour was about a 45 minute car ride out of Berlin. But the time there was packed full with a great lunch recommendation to end our time in the city.
Shady treated us to a first class tour! He was efficient and informative, and made sure we got to all the important sights in a timely fashion. We had an enjoyable expeience.

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Potsdam. Shadi was terrific, experienced guide who made us feel like we were on the excursion with a good friend. He is extremely knowledgeable, which made our time all the more interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend this excursion!
We enjoyed our day with Shadi. Potsdam is lovely with many beautiful places to see. We were, however, disappointed that we did not get to see inside Sanssouci Palace. That was a priority for me, but the timing of the ticket didn’t work with the timing of the tour. There wasn’t the flexibility in the day and tickets aren’t purchased ahead. But, as Shadi reminded us, Potsdam requires more than 6 hours. It is well worth the time!
Shadi was very friendly and enjoyable to spend time with. He knows the employees at the castles very well and they go out of their way to accommodate him. It was a nice tour and well worth the cost for a private tour.
This is an enjoyable tour and a wonderful city to visit. We really enjoyed the city and look forward to a return trip to visit more of the castles and buildings.
Shadi was an amazing guide! The personalized tour from East Berlin to Potsdam just for me and my 10-year-old…both history buffs. Shadi was professional and knowledgeable, as well as flexible with respect to the weather. While a hiccup with tickets at the Old Palace, Shadi made sure we made the tour. My one and only comment - on me 100% - I wish I would have requested a few formal moments at another tragic historically significant site in the route. But Shadi awesome, patient with children, flexible. Highly recommend!!!
We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide (Shadi) who was very helpful and well-informed. He showed us some amazing places such as Cecilienhof palace and Sanssouci palace, which were both very impressive and significant in history (especially for those who are interested in the second world war, Cecilienhof Palace is a must-see). He gave us enough time to explore these places and then he took us to the charming Potsdam old town, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a great Italian restaurant. He also fulfilled our request and took us to the bridge where the US and Soviet used to exchange prisoners during the cold war, as shown in the bridge of spies' movie. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Berlin.
