Casa Natal eller födelseplats för den världsberömda konstnären Pablo Ruiz Picasso har varit en officiell arv sedan 1983. Det ligger i hjärtat av Málaga historiska centrum, omgivet av monument från Málagas rika förflutna, såsom den romerska teatern, Gibralfaro slott med sin hisnande utsikt över staden, liksom Alcazaba. Denna plats har öppnats officiellt av kungen och drottningen i Spanien, och det är ett viktigt forskningscentrum om livet för denna lysande konstnär.

1881 föddes Pablo Picasso, 1900-talets viktigaste konstnär, på Plaza de la Merced nr 15. Deklarerades som ett konstnärligt-historiskt monument av nationellt intresse 1983. Födelseplatsen och museet upptar nu hela byggnaden. Sedan 2005 finns det även ett annat utställningsrum på nr 13 på samma torg. Under sin existens har Picassos Birthplace Museum sammanställt en samling konstverk med över fyra tusen verk av över 200 olika konstnärer. Dessa inkluderar Picassos skissböcker som förberedelse för 'Las señoritas de Aviñón', de enda skissböcker av detta slag som finns i en spansk samling, från 1907. Dess utställningsrum innehåller olika originalföremål, familjesouvenirer och föremål gjorda av konstnären som dokumenterar Pablo Picassos familje-, sociala och kulturella band med Málaga. Pablo Ruiz Picassos födelseplats rymmer också ett specialbibliotek och erbjuder ett kontinuerligt program med tillfälliga utställningar och kulturaktiviteter.

"Visiting the Picasso Birthplace Museum was exciting: entering the house where Picasso was born allows for a better understanding of his origins and his connection to Málaga." The museum is well organized, rich in works, photographs, and personal items that tell the artist's life in an engaging way. Suggestive atmosphere, kind staff, and a perfect location in the heart of the city. Highly recommended for art and culture lovers!
Very convenient location/ Must for Picasso fans/ reasonable price/ allow about two hours. Lots of nearby places to eat
Picasso spent only the first 10 years of his life here, so the house is of little significance both for its furnishings and for his life lived. Inside there is only a sitting area and a desk, while everything else is described on fixed panels or on-screen photos. Visit not fundamental.
Not a very impressive collection of Picasso’s work and almost entirely sketches/etchings. Very bland.
Picasso's birthplace is NOT impressive. We have seen the house in 20 minutes, with the addition that we are not art lovers, so it was also not really spent on us. The museum is spacious and there are some personal items. Furthermore, it is mainly about his family and the development of Picasso as an artist. The museum itself is nicely set up and all the texts are also in English, but we didn't think it was that special.
Educational and wonderful to have that experience too. It was very interesting to learn about Picasso's history. To see a collection of Picasso's first had early drawings.
In the downtown of Malaga and near of the cathedral we had the opportunity to visited the childhood and Picasso’s parents house. This historic building was buy for the county to celebrated the centennial of Picasso’s anniversary.
DO NOT BUY THIS - YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE AND CAN BUY THE TICKETS AT THE FRONT DESK. We bought the tickets in advance so that we don‘t have to wait since the the description explicitly states „Skip the line“. We arrived there and were told by the staff that we have to wait in line like everyone else. So we had to wait in line for 45 minutes in the rain…. We were totally disappointed by the false claims made in the description.
Great tour to learn about Picasso and how he influenced others and continues to do so. Not crowded and the administrators were very helpful in pointing out the significance of the displays.
It’s nice to see the childhood home of Pablo Picasso! And the influences he had to be the great artist that he is!
