A perfect mountain adventure with Marian My two children (18 and 21) and I spent a wonderful day hiking with Marian in Piatra Craiului National Park. The hike was around 20 km with 1,100 meters of ascent, and every kilometer was worth it. The route was stunning, with spectacular views and beautiful mountain scenery.Marian is an excellent guide: friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, and passionate about the mountains. He took great care of us throughout the day and shared interesting insights about the area.Everything worked flawlessly. Marian was on time, picked us up and dropped us off in Brașov, and drove a clean and comfortable Subaru Forester.If you are looking for a genuine mountain expert and a great hiking experience in Romania, I can warmly recommend Marian and Active Travel. We had an exceptional experience with Marian from Active Travel Brașov on a personalized hike in Piatra Craiului National Park. Marian, the owner, is a genuine mountaineer and avid hiker himself, extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, and very personable. From start to finish, safety and group wellbeing were clearly his priority. He adapted perfectly to our mixed-ability group, making sure everyone felt supported and included. You can tell he truly lives and breathes the mountains and is deeply proud to share this part of Romania. His passion, knowledge, and easy sense of humor made the whole experience very enjoyable. He also employs local guides who are very well trained and knowledgeable, which says a lot about the integrity and quality of his business. In a popular tourist area where it can sometimes be hard to distinguish between more commercial offers and truly authentic local experiences, this is the real deal. This was a premium experience, and in my view absolutely worth it. You get what you pay for, and Marian’s expertise, care, and guidance are worth every penny. Our goal was to make this hike memorable, and it far exceeded expectations, even for a group that is not easy to impress. I don’t usually write many reviews, but I will be recommending him on every platform possible. He is genuine, professional, and someone who represents Romanian hospitality and mountain culture in the best way. Thanks again, Marian!

Genuinely had the BEST DAY EVER on the Piatra Craiului private hiking tour with Active Travel. I would give this 10 stars if I could. This activity was PERFECT, I was looking to get out and explore some of the Romanian mountains in a safe way, and this service delivered. I got to hike through beautiful pine and beech forests, scale some of the parks magnificent limestone peaks, and see some of surely the BEST views in Romania! Going with Active Travel made made everything easy and safe. I got picked up and dropped off at my accommodation, which was super convenient. My guide also provided hiking poles, which was lucky for me as my luggage allowance didn't allow for extra hiking equipment. Pre-departure, communication from both the company and the guide was great - I was messaged soon after making my booking with prompt responses, enabling me to prepare for the day. The one unknown was the route - I didn't have a sense of where we were going, but don't stress there's a reason - your guides pick the route most appropriate for you once they know you a bit better. My route was perfect for my experience and fitness level, expertly chosen by my guide, where I felt challenged yet had heaps of fun (which is what hiking is supposed to be about). I'm sure all the Active Travel guides are amazing, but I was lucky enough to be guided by Bogdan who I think is the BEST GUIDE EVER!!! Bogdan is a total mountain man - he does every outdoor sport you can think of PLUS he has a military and martial art background so there is no one you could feel safer with. Bogdan oozes passion for the outdoors, and shared with me stories about his adventures and information about the area across our time together, as well as sharing his interesting perspectives on Romania more broadly (plenty of time for chats when you're together for 9 hours). Bogdan was professional, highly experienced, and totally hilarious - he spent a good portion of our 9 hours together cracking jokes to keep my spirits up, and even taught me some games and provided tips to improve my technique. He was entertaining, supportive and the best company to be hiking with, I feel very grateful to have had such a wonderful guide. Like any sane person I was slightly worried about bears, but Bogdan was 100% prepared and knew what to do, had all the equipment we needed just in case and was constantly scoping the area for bear-and-weather related threats, and made me feel totally at ease that I was in good hands. If you are even slightly interested in hiking in Romania, BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE. It is a safe, convenient way to get into nature and experience a different side of Romania, and you'll have so much fun with great people. The challenge of the hike, the stunning nature and the company made this day so special and my favorite thing I did on my trip. I recommend this tour a million times over - THANK YOU to Active Travel and Bogdan in particular for looking after me and providing me with this opportunity, this was without a doubt one of the coolest things I have ever done travelling.

Active Travel organized an exceptional two-week self-guided program for my partner and me as we traveled around Romania. We wanted a combination of hiking, biking, sightseeing, and stays in authentic accommodations, and Active Travel delivered this perfectly. Although the tour was self-guided, we relied heavily on Active Travel for all the planning, coordination, and logistical support throughout the trip. They provided excellent advice on routes, daily programs, activities, and local highlights, and every recommendation proved thoughtful and well considered. The accommodations they selected were authentic, comfortable, and full of character, which added greatly to the overall experience. The coordination behind the scenes was outstanding. Active Travel handled luggage transfers between most locations seamlessly, and every guide, driver, and local contact we encountered was professional, friendly, and reliable. We were especially impressed by their ability to make dynamic adjustments to the itinerary in response to changing weather conditions so that we could make the most of favorable weather windows. This flexibility made the trip particularly successful and enjoyable. We also greatly appreciated the support provided by Marian and the entire Active Travel team. From the initial planning stages through to the final day of the trip, they were exceptional in every respect. Their professionalism, responsiveness, local knowledge, and attention to detail allowed us to relax completely and fully enjoy our journey through Romania.

We had a wonderful time on our day of hiking. Marian our guide gave us so much information and was incredibly friendly, flexible and accommodating. We learned so much about the local and wider cultures and history. We truly enjoyed our day, it was the highlight of our trip!

Our guide Isti provided an excellent experience. He provided thoughtful commentary about the places we visited and tailored the pace to our individual fitness levels and abilities.

Andreea is excellent,very friendly and knowledgeable. She insisted I should visit this trail just for me to make the most of our visit, great.

Mihai was the best hiking guide to take me on the 6 hour hike through the gorges and up to the mountain chalet. It is an experience that will hold a special place in my heart.
