Osjuk mattur i Bukarest - 4 timmar

Beskrivning

We ate our fill, and then some more! Laura was one of the best tour guides we have had in years. If you ever book this tour, ask for her.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the food and had such a great experience on the tour. We’ll be sure to pass on your compliments to Laura – she will be delighted to hear them! We hope to welcome you on another TravelMaker tour soon!
This did not offer value for money. We knew how much food we would be given in advance, from the online list of items. However, we thought there would be a carefully guided tour outlining things like where the food comes from, why it is regionally or culturally specific, etc. In the market we expected an outline of what comes from each region, and other interesting information. While our guide was a nice person, he was completely scattered and did not give almost any information about the food, culture, etc. When we met him, he thrust a pretzel and bottle of yogurt drink into each of our hands with no verbal description of why this is part of the tour. Then we walked to the tram and took it to the market. We walked through the market, again with no real information at all, and sat down for the meat sticks and a beer. I asked what kind of meat it was and the guide said he didn't know! Then we walked back to take the bus but the guide was unsure of the schedule so we waited a while on the side of the road. We were so hot that we asked for water (which we were supposed to get as part of the tour) so he ran to a store to buy it while we waited by the road. He bought one two-lire bottle and poured some in cups for each of us. Finally he said "Okay, let's forget the bus and catch the tram again" which was fine with us but he ran across the road, not at a crosswalk, in front of about four lanes of cars (!!) and we had to climb over the railing to get to safety. We took the tram and visited a beautiful church which was interesting to see, and then he asked if we wanted to go to one of two restaurants. We said we had been to one so he chose the other which was fine. When we arrived, he told us we should try the appetizers and we asked for water. We were thinking that the appetizers were not on the list of things included but we said yes. He shared these as well, and then we were charged by the restaurant (an expensive touristy restaurant) for both the appetizers and water!! Then he ordered the dessert (donuts) that were part of the tour and left. All in all, I would never recommend this tour. We've been on numerous other food walking tours and they all come with more food, more organization, much more verbal description of the food, culture, etc, and we've never been asked / told by a guide to order more and pay for it!! This was definitely not worth the money we paid!
Great overview of the foods of Bucharest - including a trip to the farmers market, a ride on a tram, freshly grilled mici, and the ever popular papanash!
Thank you, Linda! The Unhealthy Food Tour of Bucharest is, in fact, an introduction to what the Romanian eats every day, when he goes to the office or when he goes out with friends. We are delighted that you enjoyed your experience and we hope to see you again sometimes.
This is a must !!!! Iona was absolutely brilliant - extremely knowledgeable and took us to some amazing places including the hardest restaurant to get into in Bucharest , Caru Cu Bere - amazing place !!!! The food market you would never know was there had Iona not taken us brilliant place , the bus, the tram - loved it all Iona is a little gem and so sweet - we loved the tour and would 100% recommend - you will not be disappointed- as someone previously said , come hungry !!!!!
We had a great time exploring the city and food market with our guide Horia, learning about Bucharest (and Romania) past and present. The man is a wealth of knowledge! Come hungry and forget about your diet because the food is plentiful and tasty. Highly recommended.
Hello! :) Thank you very much for leaving us a review! We have shared your kind words with our team. We're thrilled you had a great time on our tour and exploring the city. Hope to see you again soon!
I wish we'd have done the tour earlier in our stay since we had tried some of the foods already. However, it was still a great tour. But a word to the wise. At the end of the tour, if you are a couple, SPLIT the order of papanashi. There are two and I don't think anybody could eat two of those things.
Hello Mark! Thank you again! You're kind for taking the time to share your experience with us. It's great to hear you've enjoyed the Romanian food. Hope to see you again on our tours!
We enjoyed this tour with Serban Riga a lot!!! It was a great combination of local food and a city tour. Definitely would recommend it!
Stefania was a very knowledgeable tour guide. She gave a great history of the city as we toured around the market area and ate some great foods (unhealthy for sure). We loved the Meech and the wild fried donut desert!
