Jag är Steph — fågelinfluencer och värd för That Quirky Bird Girl, där jag delar glädjen, nyfikenheten och livslektionerna som kommer från kontakten med fåglar. Mitt mål är enkelt: hjälpa människor att sakta ner, titta upp och upptäcka att naturen finns runt omkring oss, även i hjärtat av New York. Tillsammans ska vi leta efter otroliga fåglar som Sparrows, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Robins och mer. Denna promenad är perfekt för både nybörjare och fågelälskare. Vi lär oss vad vi ska titta och lyssna efter, blir bekväma med att använda kikare och avslöjar roliga fågelhistorier. Varje säsong ger något nytt, med nästan 200 arter som passerar genom NYC. Vintern ger änder och bofasta fåglar, vår och höst ger färgglada migranter, och sommaren lyfter häckande fåglar som föder upp nästa generation. Inga två turer är de andra lika, så kom tillbaka i en annan säsong för att uppleva en helt ny sida av Central Parks fjäderklädda värld. Lämna med mer nyfikenhet, kontakt och uppskattning för den fantastiska naturen som händer runt omkring oss.

Vi börjar vårt äventyr på Bethesda Terrace, nära hästarna och med utsikt över den berömda Bethesdafontänen – ett av Central Parks ikoniska landmärken. Denna mötesplats sätter den perfekta tonen för vår resa in i fåglarnas och naturens värld. I början av turen får du en kort översikt över vad du kan förvänta dig, inklusive de fåglar vi mest sannolikt kommer att stöta på och de viktigaste landmärkena vi passerar längs vägen. Vänligen kom i tid, eftersom jag tillåter en 10-minuters anståndsperiod innan vi börjar vår promenad. Under den här tiden går jag igenom viktiga detaljer för att hjälpa dig att få ut det mesta av turen, från hur man ser fåglar till roliga fakta om parkens historia och årstidsväxlingar. När vi är redo ger vi oss ut på vår en timmes och trettio minuters promenad, upptäcker Central Parks dolda pärlor och lär oss hur man får kontakt med naturen på ett helt nytt sätt!

Bege dig till The Ramble, ett fågelparadis med slingrande stigar och täta lövverk. Tillsammans ska vi leta efter nordliga kardinaler, blåhajar, vitstrupig sparv och eremittrastar. Jag kommer att lära dig hur du använder Merlin app här för att identifiera fågelsånger och läten.

Steph was fantastic! She was so easygoing and paced the tour perfectly, making it enjoyable whether you were new to birding or had some experience. Her knowledge was incredible—not just about identifying birds, but also their calls, colors, the differences between males and females, their mating seasons, and their behaviors. She was also very knowledgeable about the park itself, which made the experience even more interesting. I loved that she gave us a bird checklist to mark off during the tour and then emailed us a complete bird list afterward. She even encouraged us to keep birding on our own and let her know how we did in the future. You can tell she’s genuinely passionate about birds and wants others to enjoy them too. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in birding or just looking for a fun and educational way to explore the park.
Stephanie did a great job highlighting the different types of birds we saw, 14 in total! She’s super knowledgeable about the birds as well. We also saw baby raccoons. Lastly, she was very kind and engaging with the kids.
My husband and I have lived in NYC for 11 years, but we've recently taken more of an interest in learning about our natural surroundings. Steph was an amazing guide who helped us spot and learn about almost 20 species of birds in our two hour experience in Prospect Park. She knew the terrain so well and had tons to share about every bird we saw - even the ones we take for granted seeing often in the city. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing time! We saw a common yellow throw which is unique this time of year! We learned a lot and explored quite a bit! We would definitely do it again!
Steph was fantastic — passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and so engaging throughout the tour. She made the experience fun, relaxed, and incredibly informative, and you can tell she truly loves what she does. She was especially wonderful with my daughters (13 and 9), keeping them interested, involved, and excited to learn the entire time. We all learned so much and left with a much greater appreciation for birding and nature. It made for such a memorable Mother’s Day outing for us, and I would absolutely take another tour with her again. Highly recommend, especially for families with children!

A great way to explore and celebrate nature that can be found nestled in the largest city in the US and an even better opportunity to escape the sometimes busy life of New York.
From start to finish, the experience was well-organized, informative, and incredibly enjoyable. Stephanie was excellent at pointing out the birds/bird calls, sharing fun facts, and making sure we were able to get a good look through the binoculars. Can’t wait to join again!
