Great, comprehensive tour. The food was excellent and our tour guide, Faith, was wonderful. She was extremely knowledgeable about the food and history of the city. She totally made the tour worth every penny!
Thank you for joining us!
We had a great experience on the Savor the Flavors Food Tour! Our tour guide, Gordon, was very knowledgeable about Charleston and made the tour enjoyable from start to finish. We visited four different locations, and each one was ready for us when we arrived. The service at every stop was excellent, and Gordon was always available if we needed anything. Our first stop featured BBQ, and it was delicious. The only downside was that the collard greens were much too salty for my taste, so I wasn't able to eat them. The Lowcountry boil at our second stop was a true Charleston experience. My kids had never tried one before, and they really enjoyed it. The Spice & Tea Exchange was a unique stop, and we had great samplings. I only wish we had a few more minutes there to explore everything the shop had to offer. Our final stop was in a restaurant with beautiful, unique architecture, and the food was good. However, it was a chain restaurant. I would have preferred for all of the food stops to feature restaurants that are unique to Charleston. One additional suggestion would be to end the tour with a dessert or chocolate stop. I think that would be the perfect way to finish the experience. Overall, the tour was definitely worth the money. We had a wonderful time, learned a lot, and I would absolutely do it again.
It was so much fun! Getting to see various places and try lots of food. Definitely had enough to eat! Dena was an amazing guide too!
Thank you for your kind words about Dena. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed.
Faith Milone was our group's tour guide. We were on a combined tour - History and the Savory Tasting Tour. We were a group of 18 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed all of the history and information Faith provided. She is a top-notch tour guide and the best I have ever seen. My only suggestion for improvement is to split the 2 restaurant stops further apart on the tour. The food was wonderful but we were so full from the 1st stop that we could not eat much at the 2nd stop.
We appreciate your feedback! Thank you for joining us and for your kind words about Sarah!
A nice way to spend a couple of hours. Very relaxing and nice to try different food. Our tour guide Caitlin was wonderful. Felt like we were sitting and chatting with a friend
Thanks for the great review about Caitlin's tour!
Not only a buffet of food but a buffet of history as well! This tour was superb and the classic southern dishes served along the walking tour were excellent.
Glad you enjoyed!
Food was delicious and filling. There were some points where we were standing and the guide was pointing to other restaurants around us that we would not remember unless you had paper and pen. Otherwise fun!
We are glad to hear you had a great time!
Jim and I knew nothing about the food of South Carolina and Charleston in particular. Dave introduced us to pimiento cheese, shrimp and grits, and she-crab soup as well as many other succulent treats. We visited 3 restaurants which were friendly and welcoming. The high point of the tour was The Spice & Tea Exchange. Could have spent half a day there. We thoroughly enjoyed the food but even more Dave’s fine tour guide mixture of gastronomy and history. A big recommendation.
Thank you for the stellar review and kind words about Dave!
David was one of the best speakers we have toured with. He was very knowledgeable about the foods/ culture / and history of the area. It was great to hear him address everyone’s specific questions and areas of interest. He was passionate about his topic. We would not hesitate to tour with him again.
We appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back again soon!
So, great tour guide named Graham! He answered a lot of our questions and is just a pleasant person. I highly recommend him. I gave the tour 4 stars because while there is plenty to eat, it is all savory food. The last stop was a tea and spice shop which was just a mouthful of spices on crackers—more savory. Would have been nice to have a dessert, something for those who like a bit of sweet. Isn’t key lime pie a southern favorite or what about Kilwins for ice cream or even a piece of chocolate candy? I sort of felt sick at the end with the taste of vinegary collards and then spice crackers. Definitely take that last stop off the menu.
Thanks for sharing your experience! We appreciate your feedback and kind words about Graham.
