Nima Experience

Beskrivning

My tour guide, Ben, was nice, but not so knowledgable. I in fact think that he was just a regular guy appointed to do the tour as he lacked a lot of enthusiasm. There was barely information given, instead only questions were answered. He was also not from the neighbourhood, but said to have lived there in the past. I’ve done a lot of comparable tours in Africa and Latin America and normally it’s always someone from the neighbourhood who knows everybody. Ben didn’t. The tour gives you the opportunity to get the interesting neighbourhood of Nima which I believe is a lot more pleasant doing it with a local. Asking a local friend would have probably given me the exact same experience. I suggest others to do that instead.
I do belive the Nima Experience was our first tour during our week long trip to Ghana. Hassan arrived promptly to pick us up from the hotel. He was extremely knowledgeable of the city and answered all of our questions. He even introduced us to a group of his associates/friends, where we stopped to have a spot of tea and relax for a bit. The tour is as it states, "a walking tour" so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. And while this market was not as congested as the one in Kumasi (plus we went on a Sunday), you need to be mindful that everyone else is more than likely there to shop or sell goods. We didn't partake in much eating, but did try as previously mentioned the tea and also grilled lamb meat at the end of our tour. While we praised Hassan for his knowledge and professionalism, my only recommendation would be to establish relationships with 5-10 trusted vendors selling food & beverages popular to Nima/Ghana. Ensure your group stops at each of these vendors to taste and experience Nima. You would only need to purchase one (1) serving of the delicacy (depending on the group size) out of pocket. If the group wants more after the sample, they'll support the local vendor by paying themselves. This information would be conveyed to the group at the start of the tour. Having been on several walking and food tours throughout the world, I find it more enjoyable when we're in the market connecting with the locals through food. My family and I wanted to desperately partake in the food experience more, but we were not sure which vendors were reputable. Having you establishe a group up front would alleviate us having to second guess ourselves or offend a vendor. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour. It takes you out of the city of Accra and enables you to have much more of an appreciation.
Thank you for the review. We will take on your recommendations. Thank you.
Hassan was very kind, generous and knowledgeable!!!! He shared lots of information and was kind enough to show us his personal favorites of Nima! I look forward to booking more of his time and definitely sharing with friends and family!!! Thank you for such a lovely experience 😊 #BIRTHDAYTREAT
It was a pleasure to show you around and we are very glad you loved it. Looking forward to having you again. Thank you.
When I travel, I like to have a REAL experience of the people. This tour was definitely REAL. Nima is a very interesting town. Seeing women working HARD with a baby on their backs - that is their childcare option. Our tour guide Hassan was highly professional, knowledgeable and so pleasant to be with. We received excellent information and I would highly recommend this tour!
