Beskrivning
Plitvice Lakes National Park är ett särskilt geologiskt och hydrogeologiskt karstfenomen. Plitvice Lakes Complex proklamerades en nationalpark den 8 april 1949. Det är den största, äldsta och mest besökta kroatiska nationalparken. Det representerar ett skogsområde med 16 sjöar av olika storlekar, fyllda med kristallblått vatten. Sjöar får vatten från många strömmar och strömmar och är sammankopplade av kaskader och vattenfall. Sittbarriärer, som inträffade under en tiotusenårsperiod.

Plitvicesjöarna är den äldsta och största nationalparken i Republiken Kroatien. Parken ligger i den bergiga regionen i Kroatien, mellan bergskedjan Mala Kapela i väster och nordväst, och bergskedjan Lička Plješivica i sydost. Administrativt faller parken inom två län: Lika-Senj (90,7 %) och Karlovac (9,3 %). Med sin exceptionella naturskönhet har detta område alltid lockat naturälskare, och redan den 8 april 1949 utropades det till Kroatiens första nationalpark. Processen för tuffbildning, som resulterar i byggandet av tuff- eller travertinbarriärer och resulterade i skapandet av sjöarna, är det enastående universella värdet, för vilket Plitvicesjöarna erkändes internationellt den 26 oktober 1979 med sin inskription på UNESCO:s världsarvslista. 1997 utökades nationalparkens gränser och omfattar idag en yta på knappt 300 km2. Parken är främst täckt av skogsvegetation

Very smooth experience, due to his excellent communication prior, and detailed explanation to make sure we knew where to walk and suitably prepared. Also great that he checked how we were going on our hike and making sure we were going the right direction. Very polite and professional. We had an amazing time and the national park was stunning! William picked us up right in front of the cruise port on time (early even) in a nice air conditioned car. He took us to the Plitvice Lakes and once arrived he explained what paths to take and approximate time it would take. He was then waiting for us as soon as we were ready to head back out. Overall, good conversation and good experience!
