We really loved the old restored train and the food was excellent

Very cute historic train. Half of the trip you look at middle class homes and trailer houses. Then you do see wineries but one field after another of vines isn't that special. The dinner was ok. Probably worth $75 per person. The employees were good. Experience overall was fine. But it was not worth $300 per person. Probably worth half that.

Awesome ride - we've ridden trains in 26 states. This is a first class operation. Easy to make a reservation, very nice waiting room before boarding the train. The train itself is well preserved, the host was exceptionally friendly and helpful in explaining the history of the valley and the wineries along the way. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend for a great night out.

WOW! My husband and I chose the shorter, 3 hour train ride from Napa to St. Helena and back in the dining car with the 3 course gourmet meal and it was FANTASTIC. The views were spectacular, the train ride was so cool, the server was AMAZING as was all of the food!! So much flavor, and the portions were perfect. We are simple, regular people from Nebraska, and were a little worried that it would be too "gourmet" to taste good for "meat n potatoes" kind of folks, but we took a chance - and I tell you this food was delicious. Absolutely. SO GOOD. The cost of the experience was very reasonable considering all that you get. I tried the Millionaire's Coffee off of the drinks menu which was so, so yummy. Such a wonderful, unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it! Afterwards, we booked a tour of a local winery and the caves with a tasting, which was great as well. A perfect day.

A friend and I have always wanted to do the Wine Train and we finally decided on the Gourmet Dinner. Upon boarding the train we were seated at a nice booth and were give a glass of champagne, we were greeted by our server who was so sweet. The menu options were great and we both had the short rib with mashed potatoes and grilled carrots. For desert we had the crème Brule and the lemon tarte which was to die for. And the scenery I have to say was beautiful with the sun setting over all of the vineyards. I know that some would say that it's expensive and not worth it but, if it's on your bucket list believe me it's a must do. I plan on doing it again with my daughter very soon.

Extremely disappointing. Not a good value for the money which was $$$$. We booked the Vista car.The meal was mediocre and by no means “gourmet”. Just as important, it was expected that this was a train ride through the Valley- Oxbow to Calistoga. Instead it was Oxbow to Rutherford where they spent 30 mins moving the engine from front to back for the return trip. Owner of this venue need to reevaluate cost versus quality. Certainly has potential

Could improve the customer service and the false advertising, was way overpriced and over rated. Waited 30 min for a bottle of wine. Trip was only half of advertised length of ride… and food was satisfactory at best… not gourmet. Was never asked how we liked our tenderloin prepared…

Extremely over priced Poor service and satisfactory meal. Don’t recommend this train ride … you can take a nice drive and see the sunset and go out for an amazing meal for the price of this little train ride with little service and satisfactory food.

For our anniversary dinner we expected to have a fantastic time sadly details matter..the service staff are too few and cant really keep up with providing an adequate narrative or providing drinks. No clue what happened tonight but the train stopped halfway for 45 minutes and then returned. Is this normal or a load of flannel to mug people off? Food was quite good but order the right dishes!!

We believe in great food and customer service, so it is disappointing when we see we could have done a better job. It is standard for the train to stop at the end of the line and swap engines then return back to the station. This is part of the conversation we should be sharing with our guests during their time in our care so that they are not left wondering what is happening. This was great, and fun. We did the dining option, which was as others have said expensive. However, it was 6 hours, two winery stops, one tasting on the train stop, and a breakfast, then lunch three courses. Two 24 person cars, fun hosts, and great scenery on the ride (can't see that when you have to drive). Our winery stops were, Charles Krug and V Sattui. Both had nice tastings and were very informative ( See separate reviews).
