Beläget i hjärtat av Katalonien är det heliga berget Montserrat en ikon för katalanska folket, hem för den berömda svarta Madonna, så kallad “La Moreneta”. När du anländer till Esplanaden kommer din guide att visa dig dess Basílica de la Mare de Déu de Montserrat, skyddshelgonet i Katalonien och bostaden för en benediktinska gemenskap i nästan tusen år. Grundades 1205 av abbot Oliba och har alltid varit ett viktigt och aktivt kulturhus i Katalonien. Biblioteket har den äldsta texten på katalanska från 1100-talet och är värd för den äldsta barnkören i Europa, den fantastiska Escolania de Montserrat. Nästa stopp vid Penedés Winery, du kommer att ha ett komplett guidat besök i vinkällaren, pionjär inom produktionen av ekologiskt vin, de har en bra samling utmärkta premiumutdelade viner. För att avsluta din oförglömliga upplevelse av vinturer, serveras en utsökt lunch med typisk katalansk mat och tapas på restaurangen Wine Cellar i Penedés.

Turnéns första stopp kommer att vara att besöka Montserrat-berget (GUIDE ingår ej) du kan fritt besöka platserna av intresse (cirka 1 timme). Valfri GUIDE: Extra 300€ Montserrat är ett stenigt massiv av varierande toppar som ligger nära staden Barcelona. Namnet "Montserrat" betyder bokstavligen "sågberg" på katalanska, på grund av dess unika form av stenar. Beroende på din tid och tid kommer du att besöka: Besök basilikan med dess berömda Moreneta-kapell. Gå längs Montserrat Esplanade för hisnande vyer. Inkluderar inte guidat besök.

We enjoyed Marc's knowledge and enthusiasm so much on our previous tour, we asked if he was available for a drive to tour Montserrat the next day. Because it was such short notice, he had to make some phone calls and make special arrangements to accommodate our request- But he got it done! Montserrat is a truly powerful and humbling place and features some magnificent views of the valley below. After Montserrat, we went to newer winery and learned a whole different grape growth and bottling philosophy than our first winery... along with another tasting, of course :-) It was here that we learned Marc wasn't just a driver for Barcelona By Road, but its Founder & CEO. We absolutely appreciated his time, attentiveness and dedication to us and our happiness. It is my opinion that you simply cannot go wrong booking a tour with Barcelona By Road!

Barcelona by Road put together a wonderful day trip for four to Montserrat and Penedes wine country. First was the Monastery of Montserrat for a private tour and guided hike, then we were treated to a curated tasting lunch at one of the best Penedes wineries followed by a tasting of Cava at one of the area's best cava makers. It was an absolutely beautiful day. Marc's experience and relationships with local wineries and experts meant that the tours were extremely well-curated, bespoke experiences. Would gladly continue to use Barcelona by Road when touring the area. Five stars.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Montserrat and the tapas and wine tasting. Marc was our guide and he was excellent. The views from Montserrat are spectacular & worth the trip up the mountain (the roads are great). Marc's enthusiasm and friendliness as well as the perfect weather made the day one of our best in Spain. If you are traveling in Barcelona and want a terrific experience with a wonderful guide, good food and delicious wine, this should definitely be in your itinerary.
