OK - so here's the thing. My wife had always wanted to visit NYC - top of her bucket list and it didn't disappoint. I booked this dinner cruise in secret for our last night in the Big Apple. We arrived and queued and watched a crew member fail at the first hurdle in how he greeted people - arrogant and rude. We boarded. It's important to point out that I've travelled the world many times and include many of the places I visit in my work as an international author. I've been on dinner cruises in Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand and I know what good looks like. We were shown to our table. It felt old, unloved and that was the general theme - there was no atmosphere, no investment. One of the only crew seemed to be everywhere - he tried so hard, but, there was something missing. The food was 'OK' - I've had much better - comparing the recent dinner cruise in Sydney showed how this should be done. After dinner we went outside and watched a brilliant fireworks display - no one seemed to know whether this was for the cruise, or for an event, but we took it as a bonus. The main internal deck became a disco, but it was genuinely too loud and the DJ didn't really know how to read a room. The main catch for me was the price. Contrary to what the site tells you I paid over US $380 for my wife and I. That's around $150 too much for what we experienced. The second lesson is if you choose this company bear in mind that when they get back to the berth, you're on your own - getting to the front of Pier 40 we found to our horror that there were no taxis, anywhere, it was around 22:30 and as tourists we felt very isolated. Not unsafe, just slightly abandoned. Returning to the boat gained nothing so after 40 minutes I eventually hailed a cab near Battery Point. All in all an expensive end to a truly wonderful time in New York. In future I'd book elsewhere - the company Event Cruises never replied to my emails and that seems to be a theme on Trip Advisor - buyer, beware. I gave it two stars to support the fact that I was with my amazing wife, so glad that she reached her bucket list whilst she can. @eventcruises you can do so much better.
the trip was cancelled , last minute, and after 6 weeks I’m still waiting to get my money back
This cruise was booked via TripAdvisor and Viator 3 months ago and was a Christmas gift for my son & his wife during their short visit this weekend to NYC from the UK. The company cancelled it by email at 24 hours’ notice in a message which gave no clear working instructions on how to obtain the ($250) refund, and I now have to get my card company to pursue this. Hence my dissatisfaction.
In French: FALSE ADVERTISING: we were with family, 5 people to enjoy this New Year’s Eve 2025/2026, we had surprised our parents for this event which was supposed to be a beautiful boat, where we could eat at the table with a buffet + drink, dance in the middle and enjoy the fireworks at midnight. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AT ALL: We were the 5 people on the deck of the boat, felt -7 degree Celsius with full face wind as the boat was sailing. We barely had enough to eat, it was the boat staff who distributed a mini sandwich the size of the apple of the hand to each person with a glass of drink. It’s absolutely LAMENTABLE LYING LIKE THAT. The price of this event is very exorbitant considering what is on offer. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER COMPANY BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES THAT OF "VENT CURSES NYC". Good hearing. The cruise does not last 3 hours as it says on its page, it lasts one hour 40, I demand the return of that hour that you pay and was not taken advantage of, the boat very dirty and bathrooms also, excessive cost compared to the service.
My wife and I received a Skyline dinner cruise as a Christmas present from my children for a sailing on 1/3/2026 at 7:00 pm. We live in Long Island New York, so we were able to go on the train and subway to get to Pier 40 where they were sailing out of. Earlier in the morning, my daughter went online and "activated" the tickets. We got there early (earlier than the 1/2 hour that you can board) and had to stand in the lobby of the terminal. There were no seats in this lobby, but we were glad we could stand there and wait as it was really cold outside, and the lobby was warm. At about 6:25 pm, my wife and I headed around the terminal to the side and walked down the pier and found the boat that was on the ticket (Enchanted). There was a couple in front of us already in line and others lined up behind us as we waited for them to check us in. I was talking with the people behind us in line and they were a family from Utah that was celebrating their son's 13 birthday. A trip to New York was his birthday present. They told me that they actually had tickets to the boat the day before but the company canceled it on them. After they called, they were able to "rebook" it for the next day. When the person came to start checking us in, they scammed the QR codes for the people in front of us and they went in. They got to my QR code and just said "canceled" and went to the next person. Nothing more than that - very coldly. I pressed them for what they meant and the only other thing they said was "you should have gotten an email and this is now a sit down dinner and not a buffet". Nothing like, I am sorry, but we changed. NOTHING, just canceled. Didn't say you should call a number or here is customer service - basically too bad. I called my daughter who bought the tickets and, surprisingly, no email was received. So there we were standing in the cold watching people get checked into the cruise that we booked on the same ship and ours was "canceled". So, we paid more than $70 in train and subway tickets to get there. We left our house to get there at 4:15pm only to find out our trip was canceled with no explanation, no assistance, nothing. The guy would not even talk with me about it so that I could find out more about what happened. Besides the train ticket, now we had to find a place for dinner and what was a free cruise dinner (because it was a present), turned out costing us more than $150 when you include dinner. Interesting note that my daughter booked this same cruise a few weeks earlier for a present for her boyfriend and her to go on - and guess what, they canceled that one also. So, be very careful with this company. There are 3 different times (my wife and I, the family from Utah, and my daughter and her boyfriend) that had this cruise canceled. This is not a company that I would put much faith in - especially if you are from out of town. At least we were close and could go back home and really did not have other pressing plans. My daughter is still trying to get her money back and she has not heard back from them yet. Emails sent - no response. Phone call finally went through and they said that "they refunded her the money" - nope!! "Hmmm...let me take another look. Oh that was for the previous one we canceled." They also said it was an "operational issue". Boat did not look like it had any "operational issues" as it sailed away!! I have my suspicions on what happened but wanted to only give you the facts here.
We booked this dinner cruise on the enchanted for 4 people at $169 each. Not a drink included. The dinner was buffet style and fair. The dessert was half the size of my pinky. This is pretty much the cheapest delivery we’ve ever had on a NYC excursion. The staff gets the two stars. They were excellent and doing their best. Very kind people-and fun. So they have the right staff, they have a great boat, they have a spectacular view for free… what is going on with cheap offerings? Not to the waiters fault -he was working extremely hard, we didn’t get our cocktail until well after dinner. Quite frankly, management is responsible. Also- the music was deafening and remains at the deafening level for the whole trip. Why? The room inside is so small- trust me, we can hear the music! I ask the DJ (who was very nice and played great music) to turn it down. Maybe he’s told to keep it that loud but he let it rage. My ears are still ringing. Is it necessary to deafen your audience? The experience would have been better if the volume was at a normal level. I felt like they were trying to compensate for being so cheap by raising the volume (everyone is having a great time! Right? Right?) No one was even dancing at the end and the music raged on -you couldn’t hear yourself talk, let alone speak to your family. It was unbelievable. They need to make adjustments for our health and for the cost of the excursion. Thank you.
Everything was wonderful, but the cruise is missing a narrator. The food, cocktails and service were all great; however, we need to know name of bridges, buildings and a little bit of history behind the big city.
Great boat. Great food. Polite crew. Terrific music. Small group of fellow cruisers. Great overall experience.Definitely worth the money.
Worst experience in NYC. We paid $1500 + for 7 people for what we thought would be fine dining experience to celebrate my 40th birthday. Instead we received terrible service, inedible food and our table turned into a dance floor before we’d had dessert! Couldn’t have been more disappointed or annoyed at being ripped off for what is, actually a scam. Do not book under any circumstances.
