Beskrivning

Good show, but poor meal and service

The show was wonderful. We booked for the meal too and had the worst seats in the house. Told we were being seated with other English speakers. Yes we were, but don’t know why that meant we should have worst seats Good seats seemed to be for those who booked show only Starters and dessert fine main course of steak ordered rare arrived more than well done. People who arrived later for show only for much better seats seats talked through the show

Top Notch Show and Dinner

This was booked by our travel agent and we thought it might be a little hokey or touristy. It seemed like there were a fair amount of Argentinians and judging by their reactions they like the show too. Dinner for us was choose an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. Wine was served alongside the meal. Service was good--especially for such a large crowd. The show was outstanding. Not only was there Tango, but also music and dance from the Andes region. It made for a nice mix in the program. The musical artists were so talented and really go into the performance. Highly recommend this if you are in Buenos Aires.

Total Tourist Trap

Booked this show with a travel agency. When we arrived at the venue they said we didn’t have a reservation. Searched my phone and found the booking. So they let us in. Then they took us upstairs to a balcony and led us to the very end of it where there was a very small narrow sofa and said we should sit there with 2 other people..it was extremely uncomfortable and there was nowhere to put my legs. Also there was a metal screen which blocked the view of the stage. Anyway I got up and told the waiter that I couldn’t sit there. He led us to another table in front of the stage. We were served an inexpensive wine and cheese board ( not very appetizing) .The show itself was good. At the end of the show they came and requested a tip. (have never seen this at a show before).Afterwards they brought the bill for the cheese board. The bill was for 5000 pesos and on the menu it was 1900 pesos. I complained and they said it was a misprint on the menu. However they said I could pay the price on the menu as it wasn’t my fault. (Really.??) All in all it felt like we were being taken.I had seen another tango show a few years before in Buenos Aires and enjoyed it very much.

Fun (Long) Evening!

We were anxious to see a tango show, but had been warned that the dining experience might be less than great -- and it was not! We enjoyed great steak and fish meals, with wine, followed by a show that included tango, gaucho tricks and guitar. A late night (we may have dozed off during the show), but worth the price of admission. We purchased our tickets (including van pick-up) through a travel agent, so I can't speak to the criticism about the venue taking advantage of tourists with their exchange rate.

La Ventana bamboozles foreign visitors with its shady use of the 'blue dollar.'

La Ventana Tango bamboozles foreign visitors by using the ‘blue dollar’ rate to its benefit and not to the benefit of visiting travelers as intended. In otherwise excellent Tango performances, music, food and service, going to a performance advertised at $210 for show and dinner for two persons and then having a Visa charge of $386.57, 84% more, left a bitter feeling and management refused to discuss. Their gimmick is simple: when paying La Ventana they converted our $210 USD charge into Pesos at the ‘blue dollar’ rate rather than the official rate. The visiting guests get billed at a higher USD rate and then is told that they will get a Visa credit later. The result is that La Ventana pockets the $386.57 USD and the visiting guests realize no benefit from an Argentine government approved effort to provide a more lucrative exchange rate to boost Central Bank Reserves of U.S. Dollars. La Ventana gets the USDs at the expense of the Central Bank’s efforts to boost USD reserves by encouraging foreign visitors to spend money in Argentina. We overhead similar conversations among 3 other guests near our table. I’ll dispute the charge...will skip future La Ventana shows.
