Besök Meteora, även om dina intressen inte är djupt religiösa. Det är det enda sättet att berika dina känslor av andlighet som detta område redan utstrålar, oavsett hur länge eller korta din vistelse i vårt vackra land.
Stora Meteoron klostret är den största och äldsta av allt. Det kallades klostret som "suspenderades i luften" (meteoro), på grund av bildandet av den gigantiska klippan på vilken den byggdes. Stora Meteoro-klostret grundades av Saint Athanasios Meteorite som var klostrets första grundare och organisatören av den systematiska koenovionen. Av denna anledning anses grunden för detta kloster vara en vändpunkt, eller ännu bättre, början på den organiserade monastisikmen i Heliga Meteora. Hosios Athanasios föddes runt 1302 i den medeltida staden New Patras, dagens Hypati och hans lågnamn var Andronikos.
Varlaams Heliga Kloster är det näst största klostret. Det ligger mittemot Stora Meteoro klostret och grundades i mitten av 14-talet av utövaren Hosios Varlaam. Den eleganta klosterkatolicen byggdes till Agioi Pantes ära år 1541-42, av två bröder från Ioannina, prästmonken Hosioi Theophanes och Nectarios Apsarades. Huvudkyrkan var dekorerad år 1548. Baserat på stilistiska kriterier, tillskrivs denna magnifika väggmålning den berömda hagiografen från Thebes, Frago Catelano.
Det Heliga Treenighetsklostret (Agia Triada) är det svårast att nå, men när du kommer till toppen är panoramautsikt över omgivningarna helt enkelt fängslande! Detta kloster ligger mycket nära Saint Stephen's Nunnery och det ligger uppe på en brant och magnifik klippa. Det hade redan organiserats kloster sedan år 1362, vilket anges i ett dokument av Symeon Uressis Palaeologos. Besökare måste följa en väg som leder dem till början till bergets fot, innan de börjar gå upp omkring 140 steg.
hans heliga kloster av Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas är det första klostret som vi stöter på på väg till den heliga meteoren och grundades i slutet av 1400-talet. För namnet Anapafsas finns det många tolkningar, varav två är de mest populära. Den första är att namnet Anapafsas anfördes av ett av klostrets välgörare, medan den andra förklaringen har att göra med klostrets position som den första som uppstod på vägen upp och förmodligen tjänade till pilgrimerna och andra besökare som vilopaus placera innan du fortsätter.

Despite it being a long day (4 hours each way and 14.5 hours overall), I thoroughly recommend doing this trip. The views of the monasteries on top of the rock formations are breathtaking. The guide was informative, the coach comfortable and the lunch was good.

This tour was everything we needed. Comfortable transportation, safe driver and excellent guide. Plenty of stops and time to take wonderful photo oppertunities. Lunch and Dinner breaks were adequate, although the food and service was mediocre, and to be expected when dealing with large coach numbers, throughput was the main objective of the restaurant. Ordering the food ahead of time was seamless. 10 hours of driving time to consider when booking this trip but the endpoint was worth the drive.

Very organised from the beginning. Easy meeting spot. Comfortable bus. Great place to stop for bathroom and snacks. Guide in Meteora was awesome. Well done Dimitris!! Dinner at Camino was beautiful!! Sunset over the beach. Pre ordering was an easy service, much recommended. Would definitely recommend the day. Get your walking shoes on. Walk up to first monastery was intense!

Most wonderful long day The trip was well organized and provided several stops for pictures. Also made rest stops for brunch, lunch & dinner (food not included). Guide was most excellent. Experience was excellent, length of visit was appropriate and comfortable. crowd size was suitable to our needs, Katarina was excellent in her interactions with all of us, and she was knowledgable about rock formation, caves and monsteries.
