Förälska dig i en av de mest imponerande städerna i den norra regionen. Guimarães är stolt nationalitetens vagga, eftersom vi i det avlägsna 1100-talet blev självständiga från kungariket León, efter att ha etablerats som huvudstad i Portucalense County. Sedan dess har staden behållit sina försvarsmurar, slott, borg och arbetar-/bondekvarter fram till 1800-talet. Idag kan vi fortfarande förundras över dess medeltida uppkomst, med de små torgen och smala gatorna, förutom att beundra de stora monument och kulturarv som finns i varje hörn av staden. På detta besök kommer vi att utforska hela området innanför och utanför murarna och beröra intressanta platser och kuriosa. Vi klättrar också med bil till den högsta punkten i omgivningen för att ha den största sightseeingplatsen och upptäcka några dolda pärlor. Penha Park tornar upp sig över staden och erbjuder magnifika vyer med en imponerande räckvidd på cirka 64 miles. Här finns också flera tavernor och gudstjänstlokaler bland lokalbefolkningen.

Great tour. Smooth and short. Plenty of time for shopping. Pick up and drip off smooth. Recommend to book.
We had such a great day seeing Guimaraes and Braga. Both cities were very interesting and beautiful. After coming from a few days in Porto it was nice not having such steep inclines to walk. Ricardo was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, informative and patient as we tend to wonder off a bit. He has a good sense of humor and is very personable. We learned a lot about Portugal and got a good history base to build on.
Anyone who loves visiting Portugal MUST visit Guimaraes to know how Portugal came to be. Our guide Ricardo was very pleasant, wonderful and gave very detailed history of this region and made a very pleasant walking itinerary to see all the highlights. A very beautiful little town and MUST SEE. Here Portugal was born!! ❤️

Sometimes small cities are a little "undervalued," but this one definitely deserves all the attention, since as you mentioned (Portugal was born here). Bruno picked us up at our Porto hotel on time - and we were off! We picked up 2 others in Braga - 2 others from the US. The tour was awesome - while Bruno’s expertise is the national parks he was well versed on the history of Guimares as well as Braga - another historical city we asked if could be included. It was just a great way to see two important cities in the history of Portugal. Thank you Bruno!

Guimaraes should be on everyone's list of places to visit in Portugal. The birthplace of Portugal 's fortress and palace are Interesting views into Portugal's beginning. The stone outcropping s add drama to the terrain. The visit was a treat.
