Had an absolutely incredible experience today! Our dive instructor, Gaby, was truly brilliant. Her deep knowledge of the sea and local marine wildlife added so much value to the dive and made the entire experience unforgettable. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to spend diving with them. I highly recommend Gaby and the team to anyone looking for a top-tier diving experience!

Gu was great! Had a blast and got to see some awesome marine life. Definitely one of the better shore dives I’ve.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars – Shore Diving Done Right with Extended Horizons Scuba! If you’re on the fence about shore diving, stop hesitating and book a dive with Michael at Extended Horizons Scuba. Seriously. This experience was one of the highlights of our Maui trip. Our family included two teenage daughters and two veteran parent divers who hadn’t been underwater in a while. Michael somehow managed to meet everyone exactly where they were. Before we even entered the water, he was already reading the group’s vibe, understanding comfort levels, and tailoring the experience to fit our family. We dove at Kahekili Beach, and conditions were incredible. The water was crystal clear, entry was surprisingly easy, and the reef was full of life. But what really made the dive memorable was Michael. Not only is he an experienced dive guide, he’s an educator at heart. Throughout the dive, he used an underwater slate to identify fish and marine life as we explored. Every few minutes it felt like we were getting a private marine biology lesson while swimming through an aquarium. By the end of the dive, I was half convinced I should quit my day job and become a marine biologist! The wildlife sightings were amazing. Michael helped us spot multiple sea turtles and, incredibly, two Hawaiian monk seals. Seeing these animals in their natural environment was absolutely unforgettable. What impressed me most was how he balanced the needs of our group. He helped the parents regain confidence and reconnect with the underwater world while encouraging and building confidence in our daughters. Nobody felt rushed, nobody felt left behind, and everyone came out of the water smiling. Michael brings a combination of knowledge, patience, enthusiasm, and genuine love for the ocean that is hard to find. If you want a guide who can teach, inspire, and help you have an incredible underwater adventure, he’s your guy. Five stars without hesitation. We’d dive with Michael again in a heartbeat and highly recommend Extended Horizons Scuba to anyone visiting Maui.

Awesome experience with a great instructor. After multiple dive shops canceled dives due to visibility issues, I was able to book a dive with Extended Horizons. Mike the dive instructor was a great guide!

My wife and i were able to do 6 dives with extended horizons while on vacation and the experience was absolutely top tier. Our dive instructor, Michael South was absolutely perfect blend of professionalism, competency and fun. The shore dives we took rivaled any boat dive we have gone on. On our dives we were able to see white tip sharks, frog fish, eagle rays, 5 unique types of moray eels and the highlight was a manta ray. Michael took the time to teach and educate us about the reef, the wildlife and safety. After diving for 30 years he even helped me dial my ideal weight. It’s rare to come across a business that is so invested in creating a positive customer experience! Kudos to Kevin for honoring the amazing tradition of such a great business! Thank you

Michael and the team were absolutely fantastic. My wife is a newly certified scuba diver, while I am more experienced but learning underwater photography. We had already dove one day with another operator earlier in our vacation. But EH made my wife feel so safe and comfortable, and by the time we were done with our dive day, she wanted to cancel our other plans so we could come back and dive with EH a second day! Our 4 dives with EH were totally private (and they only take small groups at most) unlike our dives with the other operator, which was also a great plus. Their prices were competitive and their divemasters were incredibly knowledgeable about all the sites and wildlife--including where to find the more elusive little critters. Michael even showed me how to be a better photographer underwater, too. EH was fantastic shore diving and we'll certainly dive with them every time we visit Maui. As soon as they get their boat back, they'll be UNSTOPPABLE. However--I did have one complaint. WHERE ARE THE T-SHIRTS FOR SALE??? Your merch is so cool, please SELL IT!!

Michael South, a very experienced scuba diver trainer, was our guide to two culturally and historically significant beach sites at Black Rock and Mala Pier, in Kaanapali and Lahaina, respectively. Michael gave comprehensive dive and historical briefs. He provided excellent assistance in kitting us up, and leading us to the best access/exit points, swim throughs, and wildlife. From close distance and depths under 35 feet, we watched very large sea turtles, resting white sharks, eels, and many other species. I highly recommend Extended Horizons and Michael to small groups of experienced divers and plan to dive with them in the future.

Amazing dives, despite all the concerns of runoff from recent storms, Michael took us to great spots with great visibility and lots of wildlife. Michael was a great dive master too. One of our group had some trouble getting down on the first dive and I saw (from underwater) Michael do a full check and overhaul of the diver's gear without having to take us in or anything. I've been diving with extended horizons every time I go to Maui for years now and they never disappoint!

We had an outstanding experience with Extended Horizons, led by divemaster Gustavo “Gu.” Recent Maui rains reduced visibility at many sites, but Gu adjusted the plan and guided us to the best possible conditions. That made the difference. These were refresher dives for our group, and Gu handled them exactly right. He quickly assessed each diver’s experience; our small group included both newer divers with fewer than ten dives and others with more than 70, but with time since our last dives. His review of fundamentals, safety, and buoyancy control was clear and structured, without slowing the group down. He also reinforced reef etiquette and respect for marine life in a practical, no-nonsense way. This team takes responsible diving seriously. What stood out most was Gu’s site knowledge. Not just which sites to choose, but where to position within each site to maximize visibility and encounters. He set expectations on what we might see: spotted eagle rays, green sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, snowflake moray eels, and more, and then delivered. We saw all of it. With two divers carrying cameras, he was mindful of positioning, and I came away with great shots of eagle rays, reef sharks, and multiple turtles. The highlight was a turtle cleaning station at Mala Wharf, with six turtles active at once and eagle rays passing nearby. It was one of those rare dives where something meaningful was happening in every direction. The attached photo captures that exact moment, multiple turtles gathered at the cleaning station with eagle rays moving through the scene. Operationally, everything was tight: Strong safety culture and clear briefings -Efficient check-in and gear handling -Well-maintained equipment -Good pacing, no rushing, no wasted time -Attentive in-water supervision without being intrusive -Effective group management for mixed experience levels If you are traveling to Hawaii with limited dive windows, this is the operator you want. They remove uncertainty and maximize your chances of a memorable dive. Highly recommend Extended Horizons, and Gu as your guide.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent 2-Tank Dive with Extended Horizons – Michael S. I had an amazing two-tank dive with Extended Horizons, guided by Michael S. He was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and clearly knows the island and its dive sites extremely well. His calm, focused approach emphasized strong diving fundamentals and best practices without overloading on information, which made the entire experience feel relaxed and confident. Michael’s care for the reefs and marine life was evident throughout the dives. He was thoughtful about positioning, buoyancy, and minimizing impact, and he shared insights that reflected a deep respect for reef health and conservation. The dives were phenomenal. We heard humpback whales nearly nonstop underwater, Mala Pier was incredible with the turtle cleaning station, and we saw eels, a frogfish, nudibranchs, flounder, and six nurse sharks—plus so much more. Truly an outstanding experience. Highly recommend Extended Horizons and diving with Michael S.
