Materuni vattenfall och kaffetur i Moshi

Inbäddat i lapptäcket foten av magnifika Kilimanjaro ligger den vackra byn Materuni, hem för våra Chagga-vänner och känd för sitt aromatiska, rika kaffe. På denna doftande och roliga dag ute vandrar du den korta men utmanande vägen till Materunifallen och du kan stå under vattnet när de faller ner i en lugn pool som är säker för bad. Och du kommer att vilja hoppa rakt in – efter att ha blivit svettig (ok, glödande) från din vandring finns det inget mer lugnande än att flyta i det svala vattnet från berget Kilimanjaro. På vägen till/från vattenfallen får du en chans att komma in i en lokal bar för att testa bananvin/öl. Därefter får du en chans att göra din egen kopp kaffe på rätt sätt och du kommer att ta reda på hemligheten bakom den perfekta koppen kaffe från det lokala Chagga-folket. Njut av din lokala varma lunch så säger vi hejdå och börjar gå tillbaka till staden Moshi från denna minnesvärda upplevelse!

Du kommer att hämtas i Moshi eller din definierade plats på morgonen, av vår chaufför, som kör dig till Materuni Village. Vid ankomst kommer du att registrera dig på byns kontor och din resa kan börja. Först besöker du vattenfallen, som ligger cirka 35 minuters promenad bort. På vägen kommer din guide att informera dig om Chaggas kultur, bylivet och förklara den omgivande faunan och floran. Utsikten är verkligen hisnande, och med lite tur kommer du att se toppen av Kilimanjaro. Poolen längst ner i vattenfallet är en inbjudande plats för ett uppfriskande dopp så glöm inte badkläderna! Efter att ha njutit av landskapet återvänder du långsamt med din guide till ett traditionellt hus där du kommer att uppleva en traditionell Chagga-lunch. Härnäst väntar kaffeupplevelsen på dig. Här får du lära dig hur kaffe odlas, torkas, rostas och vidareförädlas och du kommer att göra din egen kopp kaffe och dryck. Efter det börjar vi köra tillbaka till ditt hotell i Moshi.

I really enjoyed the tour. The Guild were really nice and explained everything really well. We started with a nice Scenic route up the mountain. Visited a local farm and learned everything about coffee. I made my own coffee from the beans whilst the local people were singing and dancing. Witch was amazing. After this we had a nice hike to the waterfall witch was beautiful. Definitely worth it. The lunch was delicious.
An essential tour if you are in Moshi. Nick is a very professional local guide and Materuni local guides as well. You will spend an unforgettable day

Thanks Nick for a great tour. We ground and made our own coffee the way the local do it, before getting to drink it. After hiking up to the waterfront and back we were treated to a tasty lunch. This felt like an authentic experience and contributes to the local people. No pressure. Nothing was rushed. A great day.
A big thanks to Nick and guide OZ for making this tour memorable. We first stopped off at a village in the foothills where the locals grow their own coffee shrubs. The process from berry to cup was shown along with singing and dancing. Then we hiked up to the waterfall listening to Africa by Toto and Queens Bohemian Rhapsody( Freddie Mercury was of course born in Zanzibar). Then back to the village for a traditional lunch with Banana beer. Nick and his partners go the extra mile to make sure you have a special experience to remember. I started out as a customer and left Tanzania with Nick as good friend for life.
This was amazing, the walk, the views and if you love coffee, you must do this trip. We learned also a lot about the people and plants there, and lunch was great!
Excellent guide. The coffee experience was informative and engaging. The waterfall is beautiful and a nice day hike. It’s a great tour for people about to head out on the Kilimanjaro trek.
Nick is very punctual and helpful and speaks very good English. He knows and explains a lot. His tours are always well organized including lunch with the locals. Try not to lure you into shops after the tour to buy souvenirs or similar as many other guides. Highly recommended.
We chose with nick which itinerary was best suited to us. We preferred to see the Materuni waterfalls and took us there on the first day combined with the coffee tour. The second day we wanted to visit the chagga village and after relax and take a bath at the chemka hotsprings. Nick is very helpful and explains a lot of things along the way. Driving very safe also because it is in the mood of the pole pole area (slowly). Recommended

Spent a great day in Materuni and the Hotsprings! Stunning nature along the hike and a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who answered all my questions and explained a lot! Also, nice experience to discover local coffee production and and a delicious lunch. The weather wasn’t too great at first, but the gloomy atmosphere gave it a beautiful vibe and it didn’t matter at all! Asante sana!
