För många besökare till Peru och till och med Sydamerika är ett besök i Inca staden Machu Picchu den efterlängtade högsta punkten för sin resa. I ett spektakulärt läge är det den mest kända arkeologiska platsen på kontinenten. Denna otroliga inspirerande antika stad avslöjades aldrig för de erövrande spanjorerna och var nästan bortglömd till början av 20-talet.

Vid klockan 3.55 kommer hotellhämtningar att börja, så var tidigt och redo att gå! Du kommer att köras till järnvägsstationen i Ollantaytambo, där du kommer att fånga klockan 6.40am, anländer till Aguas Calientes runt klockan 8.00. Vid ankomsten kommer din guide att träffas på tågstationen i Aguas Calientes för att ta dig till bussen, upp till Machu Picchu. Bussen är ca 30 minuter. Du borde anlända till Machu Picchu runt 8.45 och gå in på webbplatsen. Under en turné genom denna magnifika plats kommer din tvåspråkiga guide att förklara allt om Machu Picchus historiska plats, och du kommer att besöka alla större platser i den förlorade staden. Den guidade rundturen tar cirka 2,5 till 3 timmar. Efteråt har du ledig tid att vandra runt och beundra denna otroligt inspirerande plats på egen hand. Det är möjligt att gå ut på platsen för att äta ett mellanmål på kaféet och sedan komma in igen. Din biljett gäller hela dagen. Valfritt: Du kan klättra upp i Huayna Picchu-berget (biljetter måste köpas när du köper Machu Picchu), vilket är en 1,5 till 2-timmars rundtur. Denna resa är utan guide. Ingångstiden är 10.00-11.00, så om du väljer att ta den här turnén blir din guidade tur snabbare för att slutföra i tid för att komma in i Huayna Picchu. Därefter kommer du ner till Aguas Calientes, staden som heter Hot Springs. Du kan komma dit med buss: det är en 30-minuters resa, och bussar lämnar var 5: e minut. Då återkommer du med tåg till Cusco. Du kan välja 4.12: e tåget för att återvända direkt till Cusco, eller klockan 19.00 för att återvända till Ollantaytambo - tåget är ca 1 timme och 40 minuter. En minibuss väntar i Ollantaytambo för att ta dig till Cusco (ca 90 min).

Try to find a taxi to get to the station and to come back you will save at least 3 hours because in the morning the bus goes around the hotels and the same for the return
Courteous people but precarious structure. Breathtaking landscapes along the way. Long distance but worth seeing. I highly recommend it.
Heidi did an excellent job coordinating our last minute plan to Machu Picchu. She picked us from the train station and sent us our way to Machu Picchu with clear instructions and accommodations . She couldn’t buy entrance tickets due to local protesting but her tour guide was able to help us get tickets. Ronals (aka Ronaldo) was our tour guide. The experience was one of a kind! We were up at Machu Pichu before Sunrise, when the sun came up it was a one in a life time experience.
Everything was planned as they mentioned and amazing as they described it. The whole experience I had transportation and guidance when needed. They were always waiting ahead in each point of the experience. I didn’t feel lost.
As soon as we contacted Heidi, she carefully planned our three day Cusco trip. She’s a pro and knew exactly what we were looking for. A half day city tour where we toured the historic city of Cusco and it’s nearby archeological sites. A trip through the Sacred Valley where we made various stops through its picturesque towns and ancient sites. And an overnight stay in Ollantaytambo before departing via train the next morning for our visit to the incredible archeological site of Machu Picchu. The perfect hotels and wonderful tour guides made it a trip to remember. After a difficult year for all of us, Heidi made us feel welcomed to Cusco and the region and made sure our trip was safe and organized. Though some restrictions are still in place because of the ongoing pandemic, all of the trip is outdoors and did not interfere with our stay.
