Lucerne Gamla Stan Privat rundvandring

Beskrivning

Great tour of Luzern with Alexandra, complete and plenty of fun facts
When my wife and I arrive in a new (to us) city, we love having a private guide walk us through some of the main sites, provide some history and suggest places to go and eat that not every tourist will visit. Alexandra was a perfect fit for you. We covered some of the important landmarks but she also pointed out some hidden gems like the Sammlung Rosengart which has over 300 original pieces of Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee. A wonderful and warm history of how this artwork was donated primarily from a single family who had personal relationships with the artists. With outside temps at 95 degrees, this also made for a very pleasant escape from the heat. Alexandra. also recommended the Taube restaurant not far from the Chapel bridge. We heard from many in Lucerne, even the private chef from our cooking class, that this was one of the finest restaurants serving authentic Swiss cuisine. Even though the ambience is very casual, the food and service were top notch. Alexandra is passionate about guiding. She is actively developing ways for the tour to be more engaging with self discovery and creative ways to connect to the city. Do not hesitate to book a time with Alexandra. She will provide you with an amazing experience and introduction to Lucerne.
We had a wonderful guided tour of Lucerne’s Old Town with Alexandra. The tour was perfectly paced, taking us through beautiful historic streets and hidden corners to iconic landmarks that we would never have fully appreciated alone. Alexandra was friendly and happy to answer questions, making the experience enjoyable for everyone in the group. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city. Whether it’s your first time in Lucerne or you’ve been before, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of this beautiful, historic city.
I really enjoyed the tour with Allie. We did the tour on the first day of our arrival in Lucerne. We saw various historical sites and learned a lot about the history of Lucerne. It was very relaxed, and there was a lot of freedom. One did not feel as if everything was tightly scheduled and rushed. The duration was approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has never been to Lucerne.
Nice job! Enjoyed the tour. Alexandra speaks English well. Interesting tour, including history and art. Thank you. -Kim from Nashville
In just two hours, Alexandra packed in a varied and fascinating tour of Old Town without us ever feeling rushed. She presented lovely old bridges, venerable buildings of different ages and changing uses through the centuries, fun facts of Swiss history and current city life, and threw in myths and legends too. Something for every guest. She was very clear and answered our questions thoughtfully. One of my best ever guides and a colorful town.
Great tour to get familiar with Lucerne. Guide was nice, friendly, and very informative. Recommend this tour.
A real waste of money. Our guide had zero enthusiasm for the tour and didn’t talk for the second half of it at all. We walked in silence from stop to stop without any information about the beautiful city of Lucerne, its people, history of the city or information on its population. She didn’t mention the castle at all even as we walked by it. She didn’t let us walk over the covered bridge and we spent only a brief time there though that’s the highlight of the city. She had no information on the churches we went into and when I tried to elicit any background at all she really didn’t have any. For the price of $400 for two hours (she also ended early) she should have gone above and beyond to explain things.
Dear Kate, Thank you for your feedback — I’m genuinely sorry to hear that the tour didn’t meet your expectations. As a private guide, I tailor each tour to the group’s pace and interests. Some guests prefer ongoing narration, while others appreciate quieter moments to reflect and take in the atmosphere. I aim to find the right balance — and I always adjust if guests communicate their preferences. A simple “Could we walk further onto the bridge?” or “We’d love more detail on the churches” is enough for me to adapt the tour on the spot. Regarding the Chapel Bridge, we do step onto the original historic section, where I share the structure’s history and explain the first three paintings that illustrate the origins of Lucerne. I typically avoid walking the full length of the bridge, as the rebuilt section is modern, crowded, and lacks the original paintings lost in the fire. However, I’m always happy to adjust the route upon request. As for the “castle,” I assume you mean Château Gütsch — a hotel with a castle-like appearance. Since it isn’t a historic landmark or part of the city’s heritage, I don’t usually include it unless guests show interest. Your comment regarding the churches surprised me, as I always provide context on architectural styles, religious history, and notable interior features. I’m sorry if this didn’t come through during your visit — it's certainly not my intention to underdeliver on important highlights. Regarding the tour duration, it’s based on a set itinerary of key landmarks rather than a strict time limit. The advertised “approximately 2 hours” reflects the average time needed, depending on walking pace, engagement, and questions. If guests move quickly and don’t engage in conversation, the tour may conclude sooner, while still covering all intended sights. I always aim to create a personal, informative, and meaningful experience — and this works best with active communication from both sides. I appreciate your feedback and will continue refining my approach. Warm regards, Alexandra
This was a perfectly well spent two hours. Alexandra spent the time well including that it was leisurely. She pointed out the right amount of things to see with helpful history and understanding. Definitely book this tour when in Lucerne.
Very thorough tour of Old Town that included most key landmarks. This was the perfect introduction to our trip to Lucerne. I highly recommend.
