Luang Prabangs morgonmarknad som kantar ett par lugna gator nära det kungliga palatset, börjar tidigt och är över mitt på morgonen. Den ligger längs ett par sidogator bredvid en av stadens många Wats. En slaktare och några av de mer turistiga stånden har riktiga bord för sina varor. Men de flesta försäljare, som säljer allt från ris, till färska grönsaker, till ångad fisk, grodor och allt annat som kan vara dagens fångst, ställs bara upp på marken. Vi går tillbaka till ditt boende och har ledig tid för frukost fram till 8:30.
Den andra delen av denna turné börjar vid riverview park på halvöns spets. Du kommer att få en kort introduktion till Luang Prabang, där Nam Khan-floden möter Mekongfloden. Därifrån går du till det berömda Wat Xieng Thong-templet.
Wat Xiengthong ansågs vara den ceremoniella porten till staden och var ankomst- och utgångspunkten för utländska dignitärer i århundraden. Vi kommer att gå uppför trappan till huvudporten och gå in i templet som forntida dignitärer. Wat Xieng Thong, en gång känt som "Den gyllene stadens tempel", har stor kulturell, historisk och arkitektonisk betydelse. Det är lugnt beläget nära spetsen av halvön vid sammanflödet av floderna Mekong och Nam Khan, med en storslagen trappa som leder upp från Mekong. (Entréavgift 30 000 kip)
Därefter ska vi gå på tempelhoppning i grannskapet. I Wat Sene, där det finns en skola för nybörjarmunkar, kan du träffa nybörjarmunkar som du träffade på morgonallmosan. Templet byggdes 1718 av kung Kitsarath med 100 000 stenar från Mekongfloden. Det betyder bokstavligen "Tempel med 100 000 skatter"
[Museet är stängt den sista torsdagen i varje månad och kan inte besökas] Slutligen kommer vi att besöka Kungliga slottet. Det kungliga palatset, som idag är nationalmuseet och byggt av franska kolonialister mellan 1904-09, visar en vacker samling av artefakter som återspeglar den laotiska kulturens rikedom. (Entréavgift 60 000 kip) Turnén avslutas i stadens centrum eller så kommer du att överföras till ditt hotell.
Turen avslutas med en klättring uppför Phousi Hill. När du reser dig 150 meter i centrum av staden kan du njuta av en spektakulär 360 graders utsikt över staden och dess många tempel, och över det omgivande landskapet till bergen i fjärran. (Entréavgift 30 000 kip)

We have done a number of short tours recently, but this one was the best. Mr Boun was an amazing tour guide...he was friendly, helpful and had great knowledge that he imparted on us as the tour progressed. It was never rushed, but also never dragged. The pace was perfect. The tour covered a range of activities and even when going through the local markets he told us a great deal about all the different ingredients and also gave us advice about not buying the pairs of 'lucky birds' in little cages to set free, because all that did was encourage people to go out and catch them again the next day. We learnt a lot of little things that never appear in guide books. I could never commend Mr Boun too highly and happily recommend him to everyone.
I enjoyed this tour. Mornimg alms was a fairly quick but good spiritual experience, which felt fairly authentic! The trip through the market also had the right amount of time committed to it. And the climb up to the viewpoint was done before our breakfast pause, which was appreciated before the crowds and heat built up. After breakfast, the visit to the King's Palace was well paced, as was the temple tour. Ended just after midday but i think that is adequate after such an early start, and i felt satisfied that i had seen enough of what Luang Prabang has to offer! Tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable, but a little difficult to understand at times. Worth doing.
Very interesting, the ceremony of ailmentar the monks with food dadives (majority rice). After we climbed a sacred mountain, we visited temples and royal palace. Very interesting. Very good guide

As a shared experience, this tour requires a minimum of two participants to operate, and we can only accept a solo traveler's request if another group is already confirmed for that same day. Unfortunately, the current booking system does not allow us to automatically limit solo sign-ups to only those "pre-confirmed" dates, leading to manual rejections when the minimum threshold isn't met. Just the experience of sharing food with the monks in the morning is worth the whole tour. It is a unique experience that brings peace... The guide, Mr. Vone was kind and agency throughout the time he was with me, always sharing history and knowledge. Despite being alone, which was very kind from the agency, I felt super comfortable. I recommend everyone the experience and the guide. It will be several hours of knowledge and fun through the city.
It was a very interesting and informative tour of Luang Prabang, even if only 4 hours were planned for it. My guide knew a lot about the historical background of the various landmarks we visited. I can recommend this tour at any time.

A wonderfully curated introduction to Luang Prabang—peaceful, insightful, and beautifully paced. The early alms-giving ceremony set a reflective tone, the climb up Mount Phousi rewarded us with stunning views, and the visit to the Royal Palace Museum deepened our appreciation of Lao history. A meaningful experience that truly showcases why this city is recognized by UNESCO for its unique cultural heritage. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed the tour but am extremely frustrated by the fact that I have emailed the tour operator 3 times in 24 hours asking for them to check the van for my missing expensive sunglasses that I was wearing just before ending the tour. I even sent them this photo and they are ignoring me!!!
Hi kdvsimard, thank you for joining our Luang Prabang city tour — and I’m truly sorry for the frustration this has caused. When you first reported the missing sunglasses on Feb 22, 2026 (6:32 PM), our office replied on the Viator chat at 6:46 PM (“Yes, we’ll check”) and we immediately informed our team to search the van and check with the driver. Unfortunately, the sunglasses were not found during that search. That said, your main point is completely fair: after you sent the photo and followed up again the next morning and afternoon, we should have replied. Not responding to three messages is unprofessional. This happened because the conversation was not properly escalated to a supervisor, and I take responsibility for that oversight as the manager. We are checking again today with the driver and our storage/lost-and-found area, and we will message you through the Viator/Tripadvisor channel with the outcome even if we still cannot locate them. Again, I’m sorry for the lack of communication. You deserved a timely, empathetic response, regardless of whether the item was found.
We went on the tour with our guide Mr. Boun. He is not only very charismatic, smart and kind, but actually also a former monk, which really elevated the experience to a whole new level. DO NOT SKIP the aims ceremony (followed by the morning market tour and a climb to Phousi Hill), as these are the best parts of the tour !
