Upptäck äkta, färsk, traditionell mat i icke turist, dolda platser i staden! Mat och platser du kanske inte hittar ensam! Besök lokala gator där vi ser, smakar och handlar ost, charkuterivaror, frukt, godis och kryddor på marknader för färg, dofter och buller. Smaka på oliver, olja och honung från en bonde och lokalt vin som tillverkas på plats. 16:00 turer kommer att se NÅGRA av marknaden när den stänger. På söndagar är marknaderna STÄNGDA så vi besöker en taverna och äter traditionell mat med ouzo och lokalt vin. Besök en delikatessbutik och kryddbutik och en producent av olivolja och honung. Du kommer också att njuta av grekiskt kaffe och yoghurt från en lokal producent. 20 + provningar erbjuds inklusive sitta ner måltider av kött och fisk på alla turer. Lär dig om grekisk kultur och träffa lokalbefolkningen. Vegetariskt, veganskt, GF alternativ tillgängliga. Vegan är inte tillgängligt på söndagar. Rabatterat barnpris erbjuds. Du kommer att vara helt nedsänkt i kött-, fisk-, krydd- och fruktmarknaderna. Detta är inte en stormarknad erfarenhet. Marknaderna är navet i Atens shopping område och ett måste för att verkligen förstå hur vi handlar och förbereder vår mat. Fiskmarknaden är den största fiskmarknaden i Europa med över 5 ton fisk dagligen. Det är högt, hektiskt och fascinerande.
Lär dig om hur grekerna äter säsongens frukter och grönsaker när vi går genom den lokala laiki (bondens marknad). Vi diskuterar när vi äter färska produkter och provar säsongens frukter
Den underbara kryddmarknaden och hem till många lokala producenter butiker. Här stannar vi till vid tre olika butiker, en honungsproducent, oliv- och olivoljaproducent och en högt uppskattad delikatessbutik. Vi kommer att prova deras produkter och lära oss om vad som gör olivolja bra och hur greker använder honung i sin kost. Du kommer att ha möjlighet att handla souvenirer när vi besöker de fantastiska butikerna på denna gata
Prova souvlaki på en av våra favoritplatser alldeles nära marknaderna. De möra köttbitarna (eller grönsakerna) på ett spett med grekisk yoghurt och ett lokalt vin är den första av våra 2 sittplatser. Vissa turer kommer att gå till en mamma och pop taverna istället för souvlaki stopp men alla turer kommer att ha 2 sittplatser.
Nu till den stora finalen. En stor meze måltid med kött, fisk, grönsaker, bönor och mer. Detta täcker många aspekter av grekisk gastronomi. En öken av grekisk yoghurt med honung, allt tillsammans med vår nationaldryck, Ouzo.
En honungsprovning i ett underbart familjeägt honungsföretag. Prova olika honies och upptäck hur honung tillverkas och hur grekerna inkluderar denna delikatess i sin dagliga kost.
Vi träffas på Athinas Street på Ev Athinas, ett hål i väggpajbutiken och börjar våra provningar direkt med våra mest favoritfilobakelser och grekiskt kaffe. När vi går längs denna livliga shopping gata, kommer du att börja se tecken på matmarknaderna och de dagliga shoppare. Landskapet förändras när vi flyttar bort från turisten och kommer djupare in i närområdet för shoppare och handlare. Du kommer att gå förbi många små livsmedelsbutiker som säljer läckra, lokala produkter och kommer att ha möjlighet att prata med försäljarna och handla om du vill.

Our guide was amazing! Arela did such a great job showing us around Athens. We are big eaters and left stuffed! We have done food tours all over the world and this was our favorite!

Alela was an amazing tour guide!! My 18 yr old son and I enjoyed this experience immensely and highly recommend. We scheduled this on our first evening in Athens and worried that it would be too much after traveling for almost 24 hours but it was just the best way to settle in to Greece, relax and have amazing food. Alela was warm and hospitable and taught us about all of the markets, the seasonality and differences of Greek food and customs. The Greek coffee and desserts to wind down the evening were absolutely fantastic (the yogurt!)<3. My son says “the best part was learning what each food means to the people of Greece”. Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Athens and an amazing tour!

The tour guid was really nice. The meeting point not far from the metro station. We tried different things. I felt it was a bit expensive.

The cost of 72 euro may seem a lot to you but you are most probably not aware that we pay 29% to the platform you booked through, 24% tax ,2 sit down meals, all the other tastings, 3.5 hours of an experienced Guide etc. We do appreciate you choosing us and we are pleased you enjoyed the guides company.

This is our second time in Athens, but our first food tour here. We wanted to have an authentic Greek food experience and this was it! Our guide was very knowledgeable since she grew up in Athens and even had worked in the market when she was younger. Personal stories from her and about the different places we explored were very interesting. Things we wouldn’t know or find out on our own. For example, the oldest spice shop, the olive oil and olive shop that is a multigenerational family business ( Best olives ever!) and a fourth generation honey shop. This is what my hubby and I enjoy about local tours. The businesses you wouldn’t necessarily find on your own or the stories that go with it. We found this tour on youtube and we are very happy we did! 😀

By far the BEST food tour we have experienced. Katerina, a native of Athens, was delightful and her local connections provided us with the most authentic, delicious and comprehensive experience possible. The sips, the street food, the market, meat shops, and then a full sit down dinner… like her good Greek grandmother she encouraged us to try “one more!”. We left this tour feeling intensely satisfied and are still talking about it days later. And she knew about “LINNER”. Thank you Katerina.

From beginning to end - a great tour! Not too much walking as this was a lovely stroll through a typical neighborhood with shops and restaurants frequented by those who live there and not a tourist site. Most of the walk was in the shade or under awnings. Small mom-and-pop restaurants offered and /or prepared little local delicatessens. The guide Katherine was careful to watch out for allergies and vegetarian requests. The two places where we sat down were lovingly prepared by the small restaurants to create a "family lunch" atmosphere with paper table cloths, a long table where everyone sat around, cutlery, glasses and porcelain dishes. No fast food in sight, just delicious and typical dishes - and plenty of them too! Katherine knew a lot about the neighborhood, food and its preparations and the dishes of course.
