Capitoline-museerna är den äldsta offentliga samlingen i världen, med en imponerande samling av allt från antika statyer till renässansmålningar. Påven Sixtus IV gav de berömda Lateran-bronserna till staden Rom. Denna gåva inkluderade vargen She, Spinario, Camillus, Konstantins kolossala huvud med sin hand och Globen. Sedan dess har de antika skulpturerna samlats på Capitolium Vi börjar vår resa genom denna fantastiska plats från Palazzo Nuovo, där du kan beundra många kända skulpturer, inklusive den döende Galata, Capitoline Venus, de två kentaurerna och den dansande faunen, men också reliefer, mosaiker, bronser från det hellenistiska till romerska perioden och de underbara byster av härskarna. Inuti denna fantastiska plats kan du koppla av genom att utforska verk av Caravaggio, Pietro da Cortona, Guercio, Tintoretto, Annabelle Carracci, Paolo Veronese, Titian, Rubens, Antonio Van Dyck och många andra konstnärer.

After a bit of trouble finding the tour guide, tour went wonderfully. Knowledgeable, helpful and very personable guide. Museum is awe inspiring and well worth it!

Guide was great, a little tough to understand, but our issue was limited hours during New Years Eve, not her fault but felt rushed and not the best tour.

We enjoyed seeing the fascinating and ancient items housed in the Capitoline museum. The archeologist who led the tour was informative and showed us highlights of the collection which she enriched with pertinent historical and political context.
