Redo att sväva över Mexico Citys verkliga hjärtslag – inte vykortsversionen? Vi har byggt en gemensam liten gruppupplevelse till Iztapalapa, ett av CDMX mest autentiska distrikt, packat med gatumat, lokala traditioner, stadskultur och djupt rotad historia. Vi startar Downtown och åker Mexico City Metro som lokalbefolkningen medan vi packar upp hur denna megastad rör sig (och varför det betyder mer än du tror). Därefter stannar vi till vid ett lokalt museum för att förstå Iztapalapas historia och dess roll som ett kraftcentrum för samhällskultur. Sedan kommer showstopper: Linbanelinje 2, en Guinness-erkänd rutt som är känd som världens längsta stadslinbanelinje, som ger en häpnadsväckande panoramautsikt över dalen när vi glider över staden. Mellan åkturerna kör vi full ”local mode”: en kvartersmarknad för riktigt goda tacos, och vi slår in med en skål av pulque, en traditionell förspansk drink – för din Mexico City-resa förtjänar minst en historia som dina vänner inte kommer att ha.

Vill du flyga över en sida av Mexico City som de flesta resenärer aldrig ser? Vi har utformat en Iztapalapa-upplevelse utanför den slagna vägen – en riktig titt på vardagens CDMX-liv, fullpackad med gatumat, lokal kultur och djupa rötter som går tillbaka till aztekerna. Långt från turistbubblan är denna stadsdel ett av stadens mest dynamiska områden, där gatukonst, samhällsprojekt och nya offentliga platser aktivt omformar dess identitet. Kort sagt: äkta Mexico City, uppifrån och på nära håll – och ja, det kommer att slå ett annat ”samma gamla” Centro-foto.
Detta äventyr börjar i centrala Mexico City, precis utanför Palacio de Bellas Artes. Därifrån hoppar vi på tunnelbanan och beger oss mot förorterna – med samma transportmedel som lokalbefolkningen förlitar sig på – medan vi berättar om hur mobilitet fungerar i en av världens största städer (och varför den formar det dagliga livet här).
Under hela turen rör vi oss över Mexico City – och in till Iztapalapa – med hjälp av Mexico Citys tunnelbana, ryggraden i vardagen här. Längs vägen får du en verklig känsla för lokala rutiner och lär dig varför tunnelbanan inte bara är transport – det är systemet som håller igång denna megastad.
Därefter besöker vi ett lokalt museum för att dyka in i Iztapalapas historia och dess mest ikoniska kulturtradition – en episk, lokalt ledd Holy Week-föreställning känd som en av de största i sitt slag i världen.
Efter det kommer huvudevenemanget: vi åker Mexico Citys linbana och glider över gatorna för panoramautsikt över dalen – med en plats på första parkett till områdets färgglada gatukonst och storleken på CDMX från himlen.
Vi gör ett marknadsstopp för att prova ett klassiskt tacoställe som lokalbefolkningen svär vid – enkelt, autentiskt och gott.
Slutligen kommer vi tillbaka hem med tunnelbanan och avslutar vår resa på en lokal bar Downtown, för att skåla med en förspansk drink: gudarnas dryck.

A safe flight over the working-class neighborhoods of Mexico City with our guide Ramón, native of Iztapalapa. He gave us a lot of information about the evolution of the neighborhood from the 1980s to the present. Dinner in a typical market was a great experience. Ramon was thoughtful and very kind. We highly recommend this experience.
Had a great time on the CableCar tour, Aaron was an excellent guide! We saw a lot of things we otherwise wouldn't have gotten around to: multiple forms of public transit, local market experience, pulque, and more. Learned a lot about the history and culture, and he answered all our questions. Highly recommend!
Aaron was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Tour was great. Rode the metro and car cable, ate great food at a stop along the way and ended with some pulque. Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about Mexico.
Ramon was a delightful tour guide. The excursion led us through the subway & the blue line cable bus where we were treated to a local market and delicious lunch. Along the way Ramon explained many important historical facts as well as explanations of local culture & things important to Mexican people. Experiencing the city this way is highly recommended if you truly enjoy understanding the culture! Culmination of our little journey at Garabaldi square where locals hang out. We said cheers @ a pulqueria & said our fairwells then finished our day walking around Historic down town. Enjoyable person to meet, we sincerely loved the conversations!
Ramon gave us a personal and detailed new layer of knowledge about CMX. We were a small group of 5 friends with various interests. Ramon was warm and gave us a sense of walking and talking with a friend. He could answer our questions on history, politics, geology, culture and customs …. Travelling on transit and walking less touristed paths (we didn’t see another group all day) with someone that was proudly describing their home was a highlight of our time here. Food was great, drink was … interesting! Thank you so much, 10/10!
Had a great experience. Learnt lots of interesting things and benefitted from the small group size. Ramon was a great guide and told us so many interesting things about Mexico City and Iztapalapa.
Highly recommend this tour! We had both +70 year olds and 7 year old and everyone got something from the experience. This really helps gather perspective of how large and diverse the city is. We would have never explored on our own and learned so much about the history and present day.
I must say thanks to Cecilia who was very knowledgable and spoke both English/Spanish very well...for the amazing tour .All the places in the tour were interesting including travel by metro but obviously cablebus ride was the most enjoyable part..we had food in a local market in the Iztapalapa area and the local Mexican drink Pulque at the end of tour at Garibaldi ,both were very authentic ..I would recommend this tour especially with Cecilia any day ...
From start to finish the tour was well executed. Cecilia gave an excellent introduction at the meeting location of what to expect and she delivered. She was not rushed and answered all our questions. Unlike routine tour of museums this tour presented an interesting cultural overview of real places and real people. Would definitely highly recommend.
