Efter denna väg från Invergordon eller Inverness mot nord, kommer vi att besöka områden som mycket få besökare någonsin får se.

Dornoch Cathedral

Den lilla historiska staden Dornoch sitter i utkanten av Dornoch Firth och har ett lugnt läge, fantastisk natur och soligt klimat. Detta blomstrande samhälle ligger på nordkusten i norra högländerna som går från Moray Firth upp till Sutherland. Det är välsignat med ett särskilt soligt klimat tack vare sitt skyddade läge och har miles av gyllene sandstränder. Stranden sträcker sig från Dornoch Point på väg förbi Embo-stranden till mynningen av Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve. Intill stranden finns en plats med särskilt vetenskapligt intresse som innehåller häckande fåglar, flora och fauna. Och för de intresserade golfare, startar off på Royal Dornoch mästerskapsbana, rankad som 13: e i världen.! Kusten är också en favorit bland djurliv som sälar och en stor befolkning av både häckande och övervintrande fåglar.

Efter att vi lämnar Dornoch reser vi mot Dunrobin Castle via en enda spårväg runt sidan av loch Fleet där vi kommer att skymta några av de vilda djur som bebor naturreservatet inklusive sälar, oter och kanske till och med en fiskgjuse

Vi stannar här för att komma till slottet, Castle Gardens och Falconry Display. Dunrobin Castle är det nordligaste av Skottlands stora hus och det största i norra högländerna med 189 rum. Slottet är också ett av Storbritanniens äldsta kontinuerligt bebodda hus från början av 1300-talet, hem till Earls och senare, hertigarna i Sutherland. Slottet, som liknar en fransk slott med sina höga koniska spiror, har sett de arkitektoniska påverkningarna av Sir Charles Barry, som designade Londons hus av parlamentet, och Skottlands egna Sir Robert Lorimer. Slottet användes som sjösjukhus under första världskriget och som pojkekostskola från 1965 till 1972. Dunrobin Castle ligger på nordkusten i norra högländerna med utsikt över Moray Firth, strax norr om byarna Golspie och Dornoch (känd för sin katedral och Royal Dornoch Golf Club) Falconry-skärmen är fantastisk och du kommer att bli förvånad över den skärm de gör för dig i de vackra trädgårdarna. En resa som är värt att ta.

Great Tour
Great Tour! Johnny our tour guide was wonderful, and his car was very comfortable for the travel. He talked to us about the various areas as we drove through them on our way to Golspie and stopped at several scenic spots along the way. Beautiful country! Dunrobin Castle is very interesting with lots of rooms to tour and many items to view. The gardens are beautiful and the falconry show is super interesting. A castle not to be missed. This tour was perfect though we would have enjoyed more than the 2 hours allotted to the castle tour, maybe an additional 30 to 60 minutes.
Highly, highly recommend this tour.

Good Excursion to Dunrobin
This was a great tour with a very knowledgable guide. The castle is lovely. Be sure to be there for the falconry display. It was fabulous.

Highlands: Dunrobin castle from Invergordon
Nice drive through the highlands to Dunrobin castle of approx 4.5 hours. There is a few stops for the view and in the village of Dornoch.
If the weather and tide are good you have seen beautiful views and seals.
Dornoch had no added value for us. Two hours is enough time to see the house and gardens of Dunrobin castle.
Johny is a good, friendly and informative driver.

Local guide does good
A nice tour driven by a kindly local gentlemen who has lived in the area his whole life. Expect some folksy commentary about the area and bits of history on how things have changed. Nothing fancy - just a good excursion without the massive tour bus vibe. Recommended

We were able to tailor...
We were able to tailor the excursion to accommodate a late departure from the ship and still make it to the castle to see the hawk and falcon demonstration. We had plenty of time at the castle. The towns we visited were quaint with boutique shops. We also stopped at a beach. Johnny was willing to wait for us to do a little shopping near the port, but we opted to walk the few blocks back to the ship. Johnny shared his knowledge of Scotland throughout the tour. We had a lovely day😁.

Legendary Dunrobin Castle
Johnny is a punctual, friendly & very informative driver who shows you the best viewpoints & nooks of the highlands, besides the Dunrobin Castle. Highly recommended. We enjoyed every minute. Well done Johnny!
