Vi besöker lavatunneln Raufarhólshellir som ligger bara 30 minuter från Reykjavík. Vi kommer att bevittna den inre verkan av en vulkanutbrott medan vi går i en lavas stig som strömmat för tusentals år sedan. Lavatunneln är en av de största på Island och får upp till 30 meter bred och 10 meter hög. Lava röret tak har caved i nära ingången, vilket skapar vackra kolonner av ljus. Det fantastiska utbudet av tunnelväggens färger beror på de olika mineraltyperna i berget.

• Vänligen var på din angivna upphämtningsplats minst 30 minuter före avgång. Våra pickup fordon är väl märkta med Reykjavik Excursions. • Varje chaufför har några stopp, så det kan ta upp till 30 minuter att plocka upp alla, så det finns ingen anledning att oroa sig om bussen inte är där direkt.

Picked us up at the hotel. Then we went to the bus terminal and got on another bus. When we walked in, was told to get helmets and turn lights on. There was enough helmets but some of the lights didn’t work. It is cold down there so dress according. It is very rocky and rough walking. Multiple stairs. Need good stamina and endurance. If you get motion sickness easily, this may not be your cup of tea. Guide was great. Answered all questions and very knowledgeable.
July 4, 2026 we were dropped off. I had to ask the ticket counter what to do. Informed me that the tour guide would be taking us in shortly. Helmets and walking poles were provided. Our tour guided us into the amazing lava tunnel. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. There are a lot of steps and uneven paths, the walking pole were very helpful. Overall I enjoyed it very much.

If unsteady on your feet, use the walking sticks! Very helpful. Guide was easy to understand and info was educational.
Wonderful adventure…..learned a lot about geology and volcanoes. Wear good shoes, the inside of the lava tube is wet!
The tunnel was interesting and the guide was knowledgeable. Be prepared that the rocks are uneven and be careful walking. They did provide walking sticks along with the helmet and light, which was helpful.

This tour was fabulous! So glad I didn’t miss it. The tunnels are amazing. Walking requires caution but it was surprisingly not slippery. Take your time to enjoy this unique environment.

Walking sticks are VERY helpful… visitors should know that ahead of time. Guide was amazing! She really filled us in on history etc
