Vi utforskar det populära området i en liten grupp och vi har lagt till ett speciellt lunchstopp vid Fågelmuseet i sjön Mývatn. Där kommer vi att ha ett exklusivt besök borta från folkmassorna. Entré till museet och en lätt lunch ingår i stoppet. Vi justerar avgångstiden och längden så att den passar dockningstiden för varje kryssningsfartyg i Akureyris hamn. Returtiden är alltid 1 timme före fartygets avgång.

Turnén startar med en avgång från Akureyri hamn när vi körde mot det magnifika sjön Mývatn.
Vi stannar vid Goðafoss vattenfall på denna turné. Vi stannar där i 45 minuter. Det är en av de mest populära destinationerna i området.
Vårt första stopp vid sjön Mývatn är de pittoreska Skútustaðagígar Psuedo-kratrarna, bildades av explosioner när den strömmande heta lavan mötte det iskalla vattnet från sjön
Vi kommer till den varma underjordiska floden i Grjótagjá Rift, där du kommer att stå på den kontinentala klyftan mellan Europa och Amerika
Det sista stoppet vid sjön Mývatn är det geotermiska området i Hverir, med kokande lerbassänger, ångande fumaroler och svavelgropar. Beroende på vädret läggs olika fotostopp till turnén.
Vi fortsätter till Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, full av lavapelare och formationer som är rika på mytiska sagor och galna spår
Vi stannar till vid det underbara Mývatns fågelmuseum. Inträde ingår. Vi har en förändring för att äta lätt lunch eller kaffe på detta stopp. De stora bussarna kan inte komma hit eftersom det är ett litet ställe, och man kommer bort från de stora folkmassorna.

Inga was a fabulous guide.. she was knowledgeable about everything Akureyri and beyond. She was very personable and beautiful. Excellent driver too.. when we return, we will request her 100%. I’ve seen waterfalls before, but this one blew my mind…

Julius was our fantastic guide for the day. He gave us the history of the area, local folklore and patiently answered our questions. He was a considerate driver and knowledgeable guide and we were sorry when the tour ended.

Our guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting stories throughout the tour. The reason for the three-star rating is that she skipped Grjótagjá Cave, the underground river, and the rift. Those were highlights we were looking forward to, and since we returned to the port early, it didn’t seem necessary to skip them.

Excellent tour around the lake. I loved standing with one foot on the North American tetonic plate and another foot on the European tetonic plate.
My wife and I had a fun filled adventure culminating with the great Goðafoss Waterfall! Our tour guide/ driver Julie was terrific! We recommend this tour!!
We had an outstanding day exploring North Iceland with Maria as our guide. She was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, bringing every stop to life with fascinating stories about Iceland’s history, geology, and culture. Maria’s passion for her country is contagious, and she made sure everyone felt welcome and had a great experience throughout the day. The guide was able to adjust times to accommodate the group’s desires and schedule. We always were ahead of the cruise ship busses to avoid the crowds.
Great use of time! We were in for the day on a cruise and I feel like this itinerary was perfect. The bird museum was surprisingly delightful. It was worth the extra money to have a smaller group. Our guide Peter shared a lot of nice info and kept us moving.
We loved this tour! We had done this exact tour 8 years ago with Saga and booked again. Julien our guide made the day along with all the beautiful sights- Goðafoss Waterfall, Lake Mývatn ,and Geothermals and Lava fields. Julien ket us entertained and provided a wealth of knowledge. It was also a wonderful experience to have lunch locally at Mývatn Nature and Heritage museum.
