Ta en guidad tur från Kutaisi för att utforska de dolda pärlorna i Imereti-regionen. Besök Katskhi-pelaren, en 40 meter hög kalkstensmonolit med en kyrka på toppen. Nästa stopp blir gruvstaden Chiatura, en gång nummer 1 inom manganbrytning, och var känd för sitt unika linbanesystem från sovjettiden, som installerades på 1950-talet för att transportera gruvarbetare och invånare upp och ner för de branta sluttningarna. Tro det eller ej, fram till idag är linbanor ett av lokalbefolkningens främsta kollektivtrafik. De gamla linbanorna byttes till de nya, men du kommer att se några av de gamla linbanorna, aka "flygande kistor" som hänger på de övergivna linjerna. Du kommer att ta en tur på en ny Chiatura gondollift och känna dig som en lokal under en tid. Du kommer att se sovjetiska monument och mosaiker utspridda runt Chiatura, och även se typiska sovjetiska bostadshus. Efter en promenad i Chiatura, fortsätt till Mghvimevi-klostret, som är hugget i sten. På kvällen återvänder vi till Kutaisi.

Katskhi pelaren är en spektakulär 40 m. hög sten med en kyrka på toppen. Det är sällan en chans att gå upp, eftersom munken lever permanent där, även hans bröder kommunicerar bara med honom genom att ta med mat och med hjälp av repet. Du kan ta fantastiska bilder på pelaren på vägen eller från parkeringsplatsen. Det finns dock en kyrka och kloster på marknivå. Så det är inte ett mycket långt besök, men definitivt värt det.
Chiatura är en mycket viktig industristad i västra Georgien, det är en av mangangruvorna. Det är också mycket känt för sina linbanor, som byggdes på 50-talet som ett transportmedel för gruvarbetarna. Du kommer att ta en tur på en av de nya linjerna.
Tillsammans med guiden tar du en promenad i Chiatura, njuter av dess specifika arkitektur, du går till en av de gamla linbanestationerna.

The Guide Sandra was really nice and gold me alot about the Soviet Mining History and the History in General of Chiatura She also told me about how Georgian people live nowadays, the Struggles, the way of life. and it was really interesting! I didnt only see the beautiful city of chiatura i also learned more about the gorgian people!

This was a great day tour, definitely recommend. The route was perfect- there was lots to see and explore without too much time spent traveling between locations. It was refreshingly slower-paced despite including many notable sights which was great because we saw a lot without feel rushed. Content consisted of a lovely mix between history, views, culture, and religion. We especially liked that this tour allowed us to see and appreciate many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise. Our guide was welcoming, approachable, attentive, and knowledgeable. Her driving was *excellent* and we felt fully safe and comfortable with her behind the wheel. We actually did 2 tours with Megobari and loved their overall vibe; while still very professional and organized, there was less of a “corporate” feel and more of a warm, personal feeling.
We enjoyed this day trip with different kinds of stops very much! It was a good mixture between landscapes, architecture and history (from soviet times as well as before). It was also very interactive, as we got to ride on the old and new cable cars of Chiatura. The tour guide was very kind and told us a lot of interesting facts about Georgia! Thank you!

An interesting excursion that will appeal to fans of history, religion and technology, full of beautiful views. Guide knows what he's talking about. The small van we were travelling in was quite cramped (but the train to Chiatura is currently not running, so there is no choice). Keep in mind that you may get muddy, so choose appropriate clothing.
Very attentive guide, perfect to discover this little piece of paradise through the old cable car dating from the Soviet Union in particular
