Vi tar en berg-och-dalbana som pirrar i magen till utsiktsplatsen Sandwich harbor. Viken ligger vid dina fötter, omgiven av Nara-busken. Sandiga sandbankar svämmar över i viken och det gröna havet med blå himmelsröda sanddyner är helt fantastiskt. Vi tar en sanddyntur till de bästa vyerna, letar efter djur i öknen och letar efter en unik picknickplats. Lunch med utsikt över sanddynerna, tyst, väldigt tyst bara vi runt omkring. Vi har tid för sanddyner och strandpromenader.
Vår rutt tar oss genom sanddynerna och en game drive där vi kan se strutsar, Oryx, Jackal och Springbuck. På stranden kanske sälarna sover eller leker, och om vi har tur får vi se delfiner och valar. Rutten är tillbaka längs stränderna med tusentals fåglar. Tyvärr hamnar vi i Walvis Bay. Vi tankar upp och luftar upp och tar dig tillbaka till ditt hotell.
Vi hämtar upp gäster i Swakopmund och sedan i Walvisbay och på vägen. The Sandwich Harbour tour was an excellent introduction to Namibia, and I really felt well taken care of! Our guide Riaan was joking and entertaining us all along, but at the same time he had lots of knowledge and was a skilled driver in the dunes and a good photograper too. We stopped at a really nice lunch-spot in the dunes with views over the sea, and the guides had prepared for photoes to be taken for each of us with the Namibian flag. My little group paid for a half day tour, but we got the equivalent to a full day tour since we had the time and Riaan "didn't like to rush it". Loved my day!

At the beginning of this trip, I have to say I didn’t have much expectation, but after we went in Sandwich Harbour, it changed really quickly! Today’s Sandwich Harbour adventure was easily one of the highlights of our Namibia trip — and a big part of that was our guide, Louwrens. From the time he picked us up until he dropped us off, everything ran like clockwork. Louwrens knows this coastline like the back of his hand and kept us entertained with stories about the Namib, the wildlife, the harbour and its history. He knew exactly where to stop for the best photos, and somehow managed to make driving over enormous dunes look completely effortless. We, meanwhile, were hanging on and pretending it was effortless too! Desert on one side, Atlantic Ocean on the other — pretty hard to beat. If you’re in this area we highly recommend this tour, and don't forget to ask for Louwrens. He turned an amazing landscape into a truly memorable day.

We did the Sandwich Harbour tour today with Louwrens as our guide and it was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Namibia. From pick-up to drop-off, everything ran smoothly — timing, vehicle, lunch stop, the whole logistics side just worked. What really made the difference, though, was Louwrens himself. He's a natural storyteller — great stories about the area, the wildlife, the history of the harbour and the Namib — and he clearly knows this coastline inside out. He was incredibly attentive throughout, checking in with us, adjusting the pace, pointing out things we'd never have noticed on our own, and making sure we got the best photo spots on the dunes and along the lagoon. Driving the dunes where the desert meets the ocean is spectacular on its own, but with Louwrens it became a genuinely memorable day. If you're in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund, book this tour and ask for him. Highly recommended.
