Completing the 4-day hike on the Inca Trail was one of the most rewarding and memorable adventures of my trip to Peru. After a long day of hiking, enjoying a warm meal with the group was always a very pleasant moment. The second day was the most challenging part of the entire trek. This day included the climb to Dead Woman's Pass, which is the highest point of the trail at more than 4,200 meters above sea level. The hike was steep and physically demanding, and the high altitude made it even more difficult. However, our guide encouraged us to walk at a steady pace and take breaks when needed. Reaching the top of the pass was an incredible feeling of accomplishment. The views from the summit were breathtaking, with mountains and valleys stretching in every direction. After reaching the highest point, the trail continued through cloud forests and beautiful natural landscapes. The environment began to change, and we saw more vegetation, flowers, and wildlife. The trail itself was also fascinating because many parts were original stone paths built by the Inca civilization hundreds of years ago. Walking on these ancient pathways created a strong connection with history and the people who once traveled through these mountains. The third day of the trek was one of the most enjoyable days. Although there were still some climbs and descents, the route was less physically demanding and gave us more time to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. During this day, we visited several important archaeological sites along the trail. One of the most impressive was Wiñay Wayna, an incredible Inca ruin with terraces, temples, and stunning views of the valley below. Our guide explained the history and purpose of these sites, which made the experience even more meaningful. The final day began very early in the morning. Everyone was excited because we would finally reach Machu Picchu. After a short hike, we arrived at the famous viewpoint known as Sun Gate. From this location, we could see Machu Picchu for the first time. It was an unforgettable moment. Watching the ancient city appear between the mountains as the sun began to rise was truly magical. After passing through the Sun Gate, we continued walking down the trail until we reached the entrance of Machu Picchu. Seeing the entire citadel up close was incredible. The terraces, temples, and stone structures looked even more impressive than I had imagined. Our guide led us on a tour through the site, explaining the history, architecture, and cultural significance of this extraordinary place. Learning about how the Incas built the city with such precision and harmony with nature was fascinating. The views of the surrounding mountains, the green terraces, and the ancient buildings created a truly unique atmosphere.
