We had Momo and he was amazing! A pro on the river and very clear in his instructions. It was our first time doing white water rafting and we were thrown straight into the class III - this was super fun and we felt well taken care of by the team.

This was a great excursion, we had "momo loco" and he lived up to his name! A ton of fun, and just enough getting wet to keep you cool, the restaurant on the way back had amazing chicken too!!!

Has a great afternoon rafting with Wave Expeditions. We did the lower Sarapiqui, class 2 and 3, and as first timers, it felt very safe, yet exhilarating! Josep, our guide, was outstanding! Thank you guys for providing a great first experience. We also loved the lunch stop, where we saw two awesome iguanas very close. The chocolate tour at Don Juan was fantastic too! We can’t wait to raft again!

Gustavo, the bus guide, was kind. Momo our river guide was funny and fun. He pointed out wildlife along the way and made the trip adventurous. Alex, our chocolate guide, did a fantastic job sighting in birds for us to observe and taking photos through the lens. He was knowledgeable and made the chocolate experience wonderful. Ask all the questions! Highly recommend this combo tour. *recommendations: If taking van to Don Juan first for chocolate tour, they didn’t make it clear that we should have brought bug spray with us. We were told we didn’t need anything. Also, bring canteen water (with carabiner - not necessary) for the raft. Also, we were not told until after applying, do not put sunscreen on backs of legs, due to being slippery in raft.

Such a fun day! Jairo, Javi and our raft guide Werner were great. Our family of four (two teens 13 and 15) all enjoyed. Jairo gave great info about Costa Rica on the bus ride, Werner took care of us on the river and it was the right amount of scary and fun, and the lunch on the ride home was enjoyable as well. Highly recommend

Excellent tour: 12 km rafting, I would choose them again! The original plan was modified: we changed rivers, to achieve the best experience and changed the coffee walk by suspension bridges. We walked away from the group and they thought we were lost, don't! We gave the guides a hard time, sorry about that. All of them wonderful, despite the waits caused by our absence, time recovered. Towels, fruit and lunch, all spectacular. It was amazing! Thank you!!

Unfortunately, WAVE Rafting didn't warn us the river was unexpectedly high, the flooring was ripped, one of the benches was not attached to the side. We were told we were not told about the high water level, because it would require WAVE Rafting to refund our money or reschedule us on a different river. The unexpectedly high water caused our boat, six rafters, and the boat behind us, of five rafters, to be completely thrown out of the boat and required one of our rafters to visit a doctor.
Hi Thanks for rafting with us and thanks for your review. It really helps to get good honest feedback about people’s experiences. Safety is our highest priority. We put a lot of focus on keeping risk to a minimum and having well rehearsed systems and procedures in place to deal with any situation that does come up. Part of this is making sure, as much as we can, that people understand the characteristics of each river and trip and recommending the river appropriate to the customer’s expectations and abilities. I do take on board your comments that you felt the water level was high the day you went rafting. Our rivers all have several checks that measure water levels along the river and we have on the ground staff who call every morning to review with the water levels with the team. We are actually conservative when it comes to cancelling the river due to high water and tend to be one of the companies to cancel first when the water levels are higher. When water levels pass our markers and checks for what we have determined to be a runnable day on the river we always cancel our trips. We NEVER run a trip to avoid a refund to a customer and we sometimes have to refund entire days to clients because we cancel the conditions if they deem to be unsafe. This is our policy and we are VERY strict about it. We never guarantee to guests that they will not fall out of the boat. There are risks associated with whitewater rafting and falling out of the boat or the boat flipping. This can happen on any river at any level. We try to prepare our guests with extensive safety explanations on what to do if you find yourself in the water. Our staff put a lot of focus on ensuring people are ok if they do come out of the raft as it is also of utmost concern to us. One of the challenges we face, as I’m sure you’ll appreciate, is matching people’s expectations and abilities with the appropriate river and the particular conditions of the day. It is something that is impossible to get 100% right every time but that is what we strive for, which is why feedback both positive and otherwise is appreciated so much. You will see from many of our other reviews that people’s expectations vary a lot. What is too exciting for some people is not exciting enough for others. My wife and I had an amazing experience with this team. As soon as we were picked up at our hotel I knew we were going to have a great time. Romel and his team are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. For this tour, we started the day with a chocolate tour which included some history and taste testing (yum!!). The rest of the day was on the water with Mario, the best river guide! This was an awesome rafting trip and included some water jumps, swimming, and an AMAZING lunch. If you are interested in white water rafting in Costa Rica, this team is the best!

We had such a great time doing this tour! The chocolate tour was at Rainforest Chocolate Your and Kevin was our tour guide. He was fantastic at explaining everything and we are all the chocolate we could ever want! Then, the bus took us to the Wave Expeditions Rafting office and we were able to purchase some water shoes before our rafting trip. Everything went smoothly thanks to Jairo, Mario, and Horacio. This was our first time rafting, but we never felt nervous and had so much fun! We are ready for class IV rapids next time! They even provided cold drinks and cervezas and watermelon and pineapple. Lunch afterwards was delicious and we were able to try sugarcane. This was easily our favorite and most well rounded tour of our trip and would wholeheartedly recommend to everyone going to La Fortuna. Thank you again!
