Från vår mötesplats på Norrsken House Kigali börjar vi vår vandring mot Belgiska Fredsbevararmonumentet. Längs vägen får du en känsla för Kigalis rena, välplanerade gator och moderna arkitektur. Vi kommer att passera livliga kommersiella områden, små lokala butiker och vardagslivet runt omkring oss.
På det belgiska fredsbevarande minnesmärket stannar vi för att reflektera över historien om de 10 belgiska soldater som dödades i början av folkmordet på tutsi 1994. Platsen har ett litet museum och den bevarade skottmärkta byggnaden där de gjorde sitt sista ställningstagande, som erbjuder en kraftfull inblick i Rwandas förflutna och dess resa mot fred.
Biryogo har mycket att erbjuda, och vi kommer att vara där för att ta in allt! Vi vandrar genom dess pulserande bilfria zon, där lokalbefolkningen samlas på utomhustebutiker, doften av grillade broscher fyller luften och gatorna surrar av liv. När vi utforskar passerar vi genom vacker gatukonst , ett exempel på Kigalis kreativitet och kultur. Vi kommer också att stanna till vid Nyamirambo Women’s Center, där du kan lära dig om samhällets inspirerande initiativ och bläddra bland lokalt tillverkade hantverk. Oavsett om du smuttar på kryddat rwandiskt te, smakar färsk juice eller bara njuter av den livliga atmosfären, kommer detta stopp att ge dig en autentisk känsla av Kigalis sociala och kulturella hjärtslag.
Ta en promenad längs Imbuga City Walk, en livlig gågata i hjärtat av Kigali. Med inga bilar i närheten är det den perfekta platsen att insupa stadens energi, njuta av en kopp rwandisk kaffe och kolla in lokal gatukonst. Du passerar små butiker, uteserveringar och försäljare som säljer allt från hantverk till färsk frukt. Got to learn about Rwanda/Kigali with the wonderful guide Jerry. He was fun, informative, and helpful. Answered all my questions with patience and full of knowledge and even sprinkled some stories along the way. Loved it! Thank you so much.

The tour was average. The guide good thou after the interesting Belgian Memorial, we walked past several buildings and then the poorer side of town. After 2 hours we were left at the cafe mall.

Really enjoyed this 3 hour walking tour of Kigali. It was a great way to get familiar with the city and learn more about Rwanda's history and culture. What was written as a three hour tour was worth 10 in knowledge and education. Walking around Kigali among the locals, learning local customs and history was very rewarding. My tour guide Jerry was excellent and explained everything in great detail. I would recommend this tour. At first I was hesitant to go but it turned out to be one of my favorite tours while in Rwanda.
