Även om det idag är ett populärt resmål för resenärer från hela världen, är området djupt kopplat till Burma Railways tragiska historia, även känd som Death Railway, som byggdes under andra världskriget under extremt hårda förhållanden av krigsfångar och tvångsarbetare. Denna heldagstur erbjuder en minnesvärd kombination av historia och natur med besök på JEATH krigsmuseum och den berömda bron på floden Kwai, ett historiskt landmärke som sträcker sig över floden Kwai Yai. Du fortsätter sedan till den vackra nationalparken Erawan, där sju nivåer av smaragdgröna vattenfall kasar genom frodig tropisk skog. JEATH War Museum är tillägnad historien om männen som arbetade på Death Railway. Förkortningen JEATH står för de olika nationaliteterna hos de krigsfångar som arbetade med byggandet av järnvägen mellan 1942 och 1943: Japan, England, Amerika, Australien, Thailand och Holland (Nederländerna). Museet visar de faktiska föremålen som användes för byggandet av Death Railway och det visar ett stort antal fotografier tagna av fångar vid den tiden. Ett av de tre gallerierna med foton är inrymt i en bambuhydda som är en exakt kopia av de härbärgen som krigsfångarna (krigsfångarna) bodde i under denna tid. Bron över floden Kwai var en del av en strategisk järnvägsväg till Burma där japanerna siktade på att säkra förnödenheter för att erövra andra västasiatiska länder. Den var 415 kilometer lång och passerade genom Three Pagodas Pass i Sangkhlaburi District, den nordligaste delen av Kanchanaburi-provinsen. Den japanska kejserliga armén tog med sig järnbron från Java under den japanska ockupationen av Thailand i andra världskriget. Den liknades då av allierade krigsfångar (POW) under japansk övervakning. Att besöka River Kwai Bridge och Kanchanaburi krigskyrkogård uppmuntrar en att överväga den outhärdliga behandling som allierade krigsfångar, thailändare, burmeser och malayaner utsattes för under den japanska kejserliga armén under byggandet av den ökända Burma Railway, mer känd som Death Railway. Arbetet med järnvägen slutfördes på 16 månader, trots beräkningar från japanska ingenjörer om att bygget skulle ta minst 5 år!
Erawan National Park grundades 1975 som Thailands 12:e nationalpark och är hem för ett av de mest populära vattenfallen i landet. Den största attraktionen i parken är Erawanfallen i 7 nivåer med smaragdgröna dammar. Fallet kallas efter den trehövdade elefanten från hinduisk mytologi eftersom den översta grå starren liknar den. Här har du tillräckligt med tid för ett uppfriskande dopp mitt i djungeln eller till och med gå till vattenfallens översta nivå (om vädret tillåter). Glöm inte att ta med badkläder och handduk. - Våra turer fungerar regn eller solsken, eftersom tropiska regnskurar i Thailand vanligtvis inte varar länge. Regnar det kraftigt försöker vi söka skydd och fortsätter så fort vädret blir bättre. - Observera att Kanchanaburi ligger cirka 3 timmars bilresa från Bangkok (enkel resa), beroende på trafikförhållandena. Gästerna bör vara medvetna om att en betydande del av dagen kommer att spenderas på att resa.

I loved this! Na was an excellent guide, she is full of life, smart and excellent at taking and guiding for photos. Na was very helpful, took us via the BEST and cheapest Thai restaurant, seriously best meal I’ve had. The whole thing was comfortable and well organised, I loved it.

Once again Mr kraising didn't disappoint us.. We planned a couple trip to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok. The ride was long, but going up to the waterfall, having a natural fish spa at level 3 was amazing. The death railway train ride was enjoyable but it felt a bit dark with memories of the place. We thoroughly went through dinner at keeree mantra restaurant, sampling Thai authentic dishes. We recommend this guy.. @letmedrivethailand on Facebook.. This was our second time booking him for Thailand trips.

The tour to the was a great experience, the museum, The Bridge On The River Kwai and Eraean Waterfalls. Both our tour operator and driver were friendly and courteous. Lunch at Erawan Waterfalls restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend on going this tour with this company ❤️🙏

Tour Guide Na was very accommodating, she was professional yet friendly at the same time. She was approachable and has good personality. The driver was also a good driver. We caught a grab to the travel office in Chinatown,we got there we got invited in inside,nice aircon,then our driver turned up,I forgot his name ,then we started our drive to bridge over river Kwai and erawan falls,it took us nearly 2.5 hrs to get there,we met our guide Na she was very good indeed, explained everything about the railway and the museum,the prisoners of wars ,were treated terrible by the Japanese soldiers,if you didn't work you were punished,then we caught a boat down the river to the bridge,that was excited,then walked over the bridge,the railway so to take 3 years,but they were made to it in 18 months,100,000 soldiers died,then we left there and went to the erawan falls in the national park,,which were 1 hr away,we got there Na walked with us to waterfall 2 ,my wife went by the waterfall and we took photos,then Na left us and we walked up to waterfall 5,that was hard work,but I did it,it made me proud at 54 yrs old,I beat some of the young people.then we walked back down,my wife got dressed put the life jacket back,then we got the buggy back to the entrance,I would say have lunch before you go to the falls. I enjoyed it so much.defintely recommend it.

Even though it was raining, the day was lovely. A little bit of variety with the war museum and boat ride, topped with a walk (we went to 5) and swimming in 3 and 2. Not too many people, and good amount of time. Food was great. Nah (tour guide) and our driver were friendly too!

Our guide was very friendly, informative, personal and spoke English very well which all added to our trip. The JEATH Museum and death railway were very moving in their atrocity. It was good to follow this with the trip to the Erawan Falls which were very picturesque and a stark contrast to the inhumanity suffered by the POWs. Our driver, was also very friendly and did his best to converse in English, using his translator app to explain further. It was a very good trip combining history, culture and nature.
