Amongst the splendors of Tulum, sunset kayaking with Antonio and his Yucatan Outdoors is one of the most spectacular. Just down from South Tulum beach, through the regal gate to Sian Ka'an Biosphere, to Antonio's landing. Then out into the lagoon, twisting through mangroves, out to islands. Birds beyond belief--entire islands of pelicans and frigates, a great horned owl, prehistoric great blue herons, a peregrine falcon. Even spoonbills in the winter. All the while, Antonio exceptionally guides--beautiful English, deeply experienced with Sian Ka'an and Tulum. The natural beaty of Sian Ka'an--"where the sky is born" in Mayan--is one-in-a-million, as is Antonio and his Yucatan Tours.

This was an amazing experience for any kayaking and/or bird lovers! The lagoon is such a unique ecosystem and our guide was extremely knowledgeable about all the plants and birds. We kayaked for about 3 hours and saw tons of different birds, a crocodile, and some sting rays. I would definitely do this again!

This tour is amazing. Antonio knows the area like the back of his hand. He is familiar with so much of the wildlife and can teach you so much. His kayaks are great quality and he made sure each of us felt comfortable rowing before we took off. This was a wonderful personal experience and one of the best things I’ve done in Tulum.

If you’re even thinking about booking the Kayak Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve Sunset Tour… just do it. Honestly one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had. It was so intimate – just me and Julian with our guide – which made it feel really personal and peaceful from the start. We spent around two hours kayaking slowly through the reserve, completely surrounded by nature. It wasn’t rushed at all, just calm, quiet, and genuinely relaxing. Ricardo (our guide) was incredible – so knowledgeable and passionate. He shared loads of really interesting facts about the wildlife and the area, pointed things out we would have completely missed, and even took photos of us and the animals which was such a lovely touch. And then… the sunset. I don’t even know how to describe it properly. It started as this soft yellow, then turned into a deep blood orange, then faded into blue and this insane deep purple I’ve genuinely never seen before – all while the moon and stars started to appear at the same time. It felt surreal, like something out of a film. It was peaceful, magical, and just one of those moments you’ll never forget. Could not recommend this tour enough – and a huge thank you to Ricardo for making it so special.

We thoroughly enjoyed our kayaking adventure with Antonio. He's extremely knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about nature. The sunset was gorgeous and it was so very peaceful being on the water. We had the opportunity to see great blue herons & a white one as well, great horned owl, ibis, & roseate spoonbill. I would highly recommend this tour to explore this very special place.

My partner and I (in our 50’s) had a lovely sunset kayak trip with Yucatán Outdoors! We are not professional kayakers though we have some limited previous experience. The biosphere was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed watching many of species of birds fly home to roost for the night. The sunset was spectacular and Antonio was a very knowledgeable guide! On the day of our tour, we had higher than normal winds for the season and we still had a great time. If you want to spend some time in true nature with quiet surroundings, this is the tour for you!

The tour was beautiful, peaceful, and rich with wildlife. The tour operators were professional and attentive. This is definitely an experience. You get out of Tulum into the wilderness, but it’s closer than it seems (about 40 min drive depending on where you are starting in Tulum). You paddle across the lagoon in the late afternoon when it is cool and get to see the sun go down. We saw lots of birds, and the guide was extremely knowledgeable about their habitat, ecology, breeding, etc. We saw a small crocodile!. You dont need kayaking experience, but some sections were a little windy and take some effort. They have single and double sea kayaks that all work well. Really a fantastic experience to get out of Tulum and enjoy the pristine biosphere reserve.

so fun. we spent 4 hours on a peaceful kayak in a beautiful reserve. our guide was great, very informative. many birds of different types, a small crocodile, recommend!!
Such a fun experience! Antonio gives very thorough instructions and a map for the meet up spot within Sian Ka’an. He has his own cool little spot where you can park your vehicle or bikes and it’s a very short walk to the water. The experience was beautiful and relaxing. We saw various birds, a crocodile, a spectacular sunset and a great horned owl. We paddled pretty much the entire time. Antonio provided information on the different species and their activities, nesting, feeding etc. he also took pictures and sent us the link so we could download the memories.
