Världens näst vackraste bokhandel: en gammal teater som omvandlades till en bokhandel. En framstående brittisk tidskrift utsåg den som nummer två i 2008-listan över världens tio bästa bokhandlar. Bara att kliva in i den tidigare stora teatern kommer att ta andan. Imponerande byggnader med en mängd olika arkitektoniska stilar (inklusive art nouveau).
En massiv viktoriansk struktur som många stoppar och tittar på med undra: Ett fantastiskt palats med mer än 300 000 glansiga, mångfärgade plattor och glaserade och emaljstenar. Ett otroligt stort köpcentrum som brukade vara stadens centrala grossistmarknad för frukt och grönsaker. Den ursprungliga art deco-byggnaden och strukturen förblir till stor del orörd. Området Carlos Gardel - historiens mest berömda tangosångare: husfasader och butiker täckta av ”fileteado” konstverk. En kreativ konst, one-of-a-kind, full av livliga färgade ornament och symmetrier som blev ett UNESCO immateriellt kulturarv av mänskligheten. Målningsstilen förknippad med Buenos Aires som har mycket att göra med tango och som har varit en del av kulturen i Porteños (invånarna i Buenos Aires) sedan början av 1900-talet. . Räkna också med att se kreativ gatukonst och väggmålningar målade av lokala konstnärer, en tangokläder- och skorbutik, för en mest minnesvärd upplevelse. This is an outstanding tour. I visit Buenos Aires frequently, but this is really a tour that takes you to places very typical and different to the regular tours. Elisa is very knowledge of the history, architecture and art of Buenos Aires. You will end the tour enriched visually and with knowledge not shared in the regular tours.

The title is a great description. It was great to see & experience less ‘touristy’ areas. The guide was great. She had lots of history and knowledge of the city, architecture and art culture.

We'd taken and were powerfully moved by Elisa's In the Footsteps of Dictatorship tour, and decided to sign up as well, to this tour, which is a more general tourist tour explaining local history, and looking at some really cool institutions and neighborhoods. Definitely worthwhile. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the Footsteps of Dictatorship tour, but glad we ended up doing both as Elisa is super knowledgeable about the country's history, art, politics and all other aspects.

This was a WONDERFUL tour and absolutely a great highlight of my time in BA. Elisa showed us the city through her eyes, architecture, art, history, culture, tango, all while using her own unique humour and personal flair. What I liked about this tour so much is that is was real and unique, not a standard tour you can find anywhere, this was something very special and personal. You can feel the care and effort that Elisa puts into the tour as she shows you her hometown. If you want to understand more about BA, see things you wouldn't normally and have a more local experience - don't miss this tour! The "Off the Beaten Path" tours are by far the best ways to learn about and explore Buenos Aires. We signed up for 2 of Elisa's tours, and when we return we will sign up for any tour that she offers.
