We visited last month on the hottest day of the year (35 degrees) this visit wasn’t the most pleasant for one reason, so I reached out to Chessington directly. Chessington replied very quick and was understanding and were fast to find a solution to resolve our bad experience, they did exactly that. Mary was the person I was in contact with who arranged some return tickets for us and some add on and was absolutely outstanding. We returned yesterday for my son’s second visit and what a day was had! Considering it’s the school holidays and having queues of 60m wait the staff were adequate, professional and polite throughout the theme park making the wait go quick and smooth. All refill machines appeared to be stocked and in service which was also a huge relief! Kiosk were open and running business and a huge shoutout the the gentleman on the basket ball game kiosk friendly fun and fair (even tho I left sulking over not winning the highland cow! lol) overall amazing day out was had! My son’s second visit and it by far topped the first and has really changed his mind and we will be returning again. Thank you
I took four of my grandchildren. We all enjoyed it save for the very long queues, one of which was 1hr 40 minutes, not the stated 60 minutes! The signage to rides wasn't great and the maps in situe didn't have "you are here" indicators, which meant you first had to ascertain where you are to get an idea of where you need to go! The rides were well managed and the kids loved them. Also, the usual long queues for the ladies, no queues for the mens loos - when will architects/designers/planners ever realise women (who still primarily take the little ones with them) and girls need more loos than the men/boys!!!
I went on a Tuesday and all queues were above 40 mins- dragons fury was advertised as 75 mins .We spent 3 hours in queue and couldn’t even ride. It broke down 2 times. The staff were useless and lazy. Fast passes are far too expensive and hold up the queue. Vampire was shut and most rides kept closing. I expect new infrastructure- it is ancient and useless.
It was wonderful celebrating our granddaughter's birthday at Chessington Resort! We had an unforgettable day as a family, full of joy and special moments. Thank you for making this celebration so memorable!
Where to start !! 300 pounds a per night to stay in monkey temple room !! Tiny room with really outdated and old wallpapers . I have seen 30 pounds night hotel rooms better and bigger than this Breakfast Your only drink option is filter coffee like it’s 1994 or some squash juice ! Every item in breakfast buffet is cold and old or overcooked . If you stay in hotel you have 1 hour early access to rides but and big BUT . By the time they give you wrist band and scan your ticket and also make you que and search your bag and let you in it’s already 9:30 you only have 30 minutes left !!! What makes it worse none of the big rides or good ones open that time only place is open is paw patrol that’s about it !! Animals They are actively advertising all over their website or flyer with pictures of lion , tigers , rhino s and giraffe s but none of them exist. They don’t have them folks !!! Only animal they have couple of goats few penguins and 2 zebras !! At this point I believe they are donkeys that been painted with black and white stripes , Prices of food and drink Who charges 20 pounds for fish and chips and 20 pounds for coffee and doughnuts . They take people for a RIDE please avoid
Visited for our Sons birthday on a school in-service day. came here years ago and don't remember a lot of the park other than a few older rides like Vampire. The new Jumanji area is great, the 3 rides were fun and its nice that Chessington have added a bigger rollercoaster to appeal to families with older children too. The Paw Patrol area is nicely decorated, we went on Zuma's ride but the queue took so long because an adult has to ride with a child (of a certain height) and families were trying to argue with staff. This should not be allowed to happen, if people want to argue they should be told a supervisor will come to discuss and they can wait while other people continue to ride as normal. We didn't go on any of the other paw patrol rides because our son wanted to ride the bigger rides out in the main park. We managed to get on all the rides that day, the biggest queue was 20 mins long so well worth going on an in-service day. At about 2/3pm Mandrills Mayhem closed, turns out a grown adult who clearly cant read took their phone on the ride and lost it when it went upside down! We had returned to this area to go on the Jumanji rides again and could see multiple staff looking for the phone along with the 2 grown adults who had lost it! I just cant believe that a ride had to close for hours because a grown adult couldn't follow basic instructions? we had already ridden that coaster so it wasn't a huge disappointment to us but I felt bad for the families who missed out that day and feel that the park should not close a whole ride because someone decided to risk taking a loose item on. A staff member did say its because they might try to jump the fence, if that's a risk then people who ignore the rules in the first place should be removed from the park altogether. Why should all other paid guests have to suffer? On this occasion it didn't directly affect us, we had a great family day out and got our moneys worth of rides. Like all parks, food and drinks are overpriced so we take plenty of snacks and drinks for the car journey to and from and just have lunch in the park. Our son is now 120cm which meant he could go on everything apart from rattlesnake. this was great but.... some rides measure you twice and when kids are on the cusp of that height they can turn you away as you are about to get on the ride after queuing. It didn't happen to us but happened to our friends. I understand the importance of kids being the correct height but if a staff member has already measured them to join the queue, why are they being re-measured? As above we did have a lovely day out hence the 4 stars but there is room for improvement for things we saw that affected other people and took us by surprise so wanted to make others aware. We would be happy to return.... but if we missed out on rides because of what happened above, I would be asking for a refund.
I just wanted to highlight our trip today by saying we stopped and watched the Adventure Show at 11.30 and WOW the vocalists and dancers were amazing.
Put me off English Theme parks for life , the wait for rides is long !! I get that being a Sunday but the way we are herded around with little shade on a hot day or shelter if it was raining is not great with young children to keep entertained . But my biggest gripe is the horrendous parking situation £15 to park in an extremely bumpy dusty field is an absolute liberty .
Me and my family stayed at the Azteca hotel, we had a great time the room was nice and the dinner breakfast buffet was nice all you can eat!!
Starting with the park - we have visited a number of times but it about time for some TLC. Some areas are tired needing paint and tidying, the new Paw Patrol is great for younger children and maybe with Roblox there will be more appeal for my 13 year old and her friend. Vampire is sinking and various other rides regularly out of action it is appealing more to the younger families. The hotel is good , themed rooms always seem clean and well kept and worth the extra few pounds, food at the Safari was good but expensive , our bill for 2 + 2 was just over £140 (two courses). Staff were good in the park and hotel , but do not eat in the Smoke House, the food was dreadful and the service slow. Expensive and definitely not worth the money. All in all expensive for the price , but with Thorpe having those ridiculous shark cabins as accommodation , it’s probably above that overall rating wise, but you can’t beat the rides at Thorpe.
