The park has to have the friendliest staff in the world. Every contact I had was so inviting. The admission fee was reasonable for everything that was offered. I arrived later than I planned, so there were things I did get to do, even in the 4 hours I was there. Each area had its own theme, and the staff were dressed for the time and place they were located. As an international visitor an did not have a car. Getting to and returning from was challenging. This is my only criticism.
Outstanding historical venue, from the moment you enter until you leave you're immersed in the history that built Alberta. Villages from all eras, trained docents/actors and actual First Nation representatives take you back to historical events, answer questions, and provide a terrific opportunity for both young and not-so-young visitors to learn about the people and places of Alberta in a unique and !memorable way. My husband is disabled and uses a walker. There is a bus for transport with a terrific driver, the steam train has a special car with a lift for visitors with mobility issues, and Gasoline Alley has elevators to all levels of the automobile museum!
There is so much to do and see! The people running each house provide very interesting background info and stories. You do get a nice glimpse into life in the past. We loved trundling around the park on the train. Gasoline Alley is a wonderful addition you can easily spend 2+ hours inside. The vehicles are simply amazing and I love all the old gasoline pumps. There is so much to see that you really need multiple days to see everything. A must-see if you are in Calgary.
The Park is a joke! We've been to many parks/museums of this type all over the world, this is definitely the worst one. A parody. I have no idea why the locals are so proud of it, probably because they had never seen anything better. Even if it was a free admission I would still doubt if it's worth wasting my time.
The entire place feels like stepping back in time, with beautifully preserved buildings, friendly staff, and plenty of hands-on exhibits. I appreciated how relaxed the atmosphere was, even with families and tourists around. The views of the reservoir and the city skyline made the experience even better. It is one of those iconic Calgary spots that you can return to multiple times and always find something new to appreciate.
Only one small museum was open. We did not get any experience. My child was looking forward to a boat ride, train ride and other rides. All this was closed, the park itself was closed also. There was no value for money and we just wasted our time.
A great historical park with lots of activities. Love the theme and all food they serve here. We will be back in the future
Outstanding history of Calgary Museum and experience. Great value for money, and would advise anyone to go. Great for adults, kids, grandparents. Disabled friendly, lots to do, excellent staff. Cannot praise it more.
We needed to kill some time after Banff in Calgary before our flight left. My husband and I spent about 4 hours in Heritage Park, and really enjoyed iti! If you want to experience life 100 years ago or so, this was really fascinating! I loved the train ride, being able to see the inside of the old train cars, and especially Main Street that was set up like a town from the 1920s. Even authentic horse manure in the streets:). It was fun seeing the kids on the old carnival rides, we rode the big swing and ferris wheel. It is a big park and although they have train and horse and buggy rides around, it is a lot of walking. Good food choices and treats. The workers were knowledgeable about their craft.
Large park with many exhibits recalling the history of the Canadian West. including the indigenous encampment, fur trading industry, fort establishment, building of the cross-country railway, settlement, sternwheeler era, early pioneers and farming / ranching, A step back in time. Many exhibits had tour guides present to explain the artifacts and answer questions. Highly recommend it for the whole family.
